Times-Advocate, 1978-04-20, Page 15Couple wed Friday Kim MacGregor, Parkhill and Michael Ziler, son of Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Ziler were united in marriage at Our Lodge of Mount Carmel Church by Father Charrette, on April 14. Maid of honour was Mrs. Darlene Salmon. Attendants were Bonnie Ziler sister of the groom and Kathy Mac­ Gregor sister of the bride. Lisa Ziler sister of the groom was flower girl. Attendants were best man Robert Restemayer, Jim MacGregor and Bill Struyke. Jon Denommet nephew of groom) was ring bearer and guests were ushered by Bob Dietrich and Floyd Paisley. The couple will reside in Grand Bend. Juniors enjoy tour of paper The recently organized South Huron Junior Farmers for their last meeting en­ joyed a tour of the Exeter Times Advocate. They were shown the computerized typewriters and some members had their names typed up. They were also shown into the dark room and saw the camera, plate making equipment and the printing and folding presses. IRVIN RADER Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid held their April meeting with Group four and Mrs. Esther Salmon, convener, in charge of closing devotions and lunch. Following opening hymn and prayer, pastor M. Mellecke dealt with the topic, “Communication” using the book of Proverbs. The following topics were found — the power of our words; the source of our words; listen, think before you speak; timing, don’t talk too much; avoid nagging; use a calm soft answer; ignore insults; speak the truth and avoid quarrels. Mrs. Lome Genttner, president, dealt with the business. The Altar Guild reported 32 visits. The new Guild is Mrs. Lome Becker and Helen Nadiger. An in­ vitation from the Zurich Lutheran ladies for May 9 was accepted. The mother and daughter pot luck supper for all ladies and daughters of the congregation is May 10. Plans were finalized for an April wedding. Mrs. Salmon and Mrs. Mellecke were appointed a committee to look after new stoles for the pastor. The meeting closed with “The Lord’s Prayer”. Strawberry supper, June 21 The Church in Society Group with Mrs. Mervyn Tieman, convener, was in charge of the April meeting of Calvary United Church Women. The whole meeting had a Hawaian atmosphere. All the group wore Leis. A hymn “Go & Tell” was sung followed by a trio by Mrs. Jack Gaiser, Mrs. Gerald Mason and Mrs. Mervyn Tieman. Mrs. Syd Baker spoke of her recent trip to Hawaii. President, Mrs. Gordon Bender, presided for the business. The strawberry supper will be held June 21. A bake sale is planned for a later date. The Sunshine Committee reported 12 calls. The new committee is Mrs. Mildred Kellerman and Mrs. Letta Taylor. In keeping with the theme pineapple and tea cookies were served for lunch. Personals Master Scott Parker spent • the weekend with his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Wolfe. He was ac­ companied by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Parker, London. A number of Senior Citizens attended the Spring Rally in Exeter last Wed­ nesday. Mrs. Dave Rader, Stacey and Derek and Mrs. Irvin Rader attended a Trousseau Tea for Lynda Campbell, Bayfield, Saturday, bride­ elect of April 22. Mr. & Mrs. Dave Rader, Stacey and Derek, Mrs. Irvin Rader, Mrs. Elgin Rader and Mrs. Lloyd Rader were in London, Sunday. The candles are $3. each. Susan McClure. The Exeter primary choir came Thursday to practice for Music Night. The leader was Mrs. Perry. The primary choirs from both schools rehearsed for a massed choir number. Debbie White. April 6, the Educator Supply Book Van was at Stephen Central School. Some of the students were allowed to go out and pick out two books to put in our library. Many good fiction and non-fiction books were brought. I hope the students are interested in some of these books. Karen Hodge. Since I am now in grade 8, high school is on it s way and there will be so much to know. What about course selection? Which courses will I choose? Often your teachers will help you with that. I doubt you will miss your old school very much since you’ve been there for 8 years although high school will be a big change in your life. Good luck. Stephen girls placed first in the South Huron elementary school volleyball tournament. Each school played each other in the best two of three games pattern.
