Chairman Ted Wright said the truck had been included in capital forecasts for 1978 and his committee “feel quite strongly’’ that the vehicle should be replaced this year. He advised that the cost would be in the neighborhood of $23,000. The committee also recommended that sanitary sewers by completed on William and Carling Streets at the north end. The es timated cost of those pro jects was set at $54,000. The committee’s proposals will be turned over to the finance com mittee for consideration in the budget. D. Mayor Bruce Shaw, past chairman of the board, asked council to “sit on it” for another two weeks so the board can get some of the items into a more fixed position. He paid tribute to the committee for their hard work during the past year and in particular mentioned the leadership provided in the formative stages by John Burke. The latter resigned earlier this year due to business pressures and was replaced by Councillor Steve Pfaff. Shaw noted that the projected deficit for this year was still lower than that which Exeter faced two years ago for the operation of the arena and recreation programs. Huron Park Is Huron Park the battle ground For our rights and dignity Upheld by officers of the law For all like you and me? The Park was once an airfield Which helped to turn the tide And fed the waves of gallent men Who sacrificed and died. I barely remember the multitudes Who learned to fight and die, The bulwarks in our freedom’s fight The soldiers of the sky. No contract or a raise in pay Released them from their cross, For freedom’s cause and human rights Many paid the tragic cost. Again the rights of men are challenged By the boisterous few Again the cost is paid by all The fools, like me and you. It’s time we honoured the rights of men And not the money and greed, We can do without all unions Who are parasites in need. Harry A. Schroeder r R. K.
