Heintz and Janet Probts stayed the week-end with Clarence and Carolyn Sadler. Rev. Keith Brown, of the Lucan charge held the Communion Service Sunday in the United Church. Leonard and Estelle Daley, Mt. Clemens attended the dance Friday evening for Mr. & Mrs. George Prest and visited with relatives and friends on the week-end. United Church Women held their April meeting Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jack Trevithick. Dianne Corbett and friend Leslie Wilkinson from Guelph visited Sunday with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Charles Corbett and David. Friends and relatives attended the 25th wedding anniversaries for George and Betty Prest and Bill and Audrey Fenton held at the Crediton Community centre, Friday night. Section 16 of the bill deals with the obligation of parents to provide education & support for their han­ dicapped children. Members are concerned lest the passing of this bill should cut off the allowances now being provided by the Ontario Social Services Ministry to the disabled and unemployable. ALPHA Huron plans the compilation of a list of the housing in Huron County with facilities for the han­ dicapped. SUMMERS GRANTON The Happy Gang met at the United Church Wed­ nesday afternoon. Mrs. James Kerr presided for this meeting and opened with the Easter hymn “Christ the Lord is Risen today.” It was decided to give the af­ ternoon’s collection to the Bunny Bundle crippled children’^ fund. Following a sing-song led by Mrs. Kerr with Mrs. Chas.. Gowan at the piano, euchre and crokinole were enjoyed. Those with bir­ thdays in March and having their names on the cake, were the following members, Olive Morden, Mary Bowman, Lizzie Crockett, Olive Gowan, Margery Morley and Clare Dunlop. CGIT and Explorer news The Explorers are selling tickets on a home baked cake, the proceeds will go to Bunny Bundle. There was only fair at­ tendance at the white elephant and bake sale sponsored by the CGIT Saturday afternoon. The proceeds from this sale were for the Bunny Bundle and it is very discouraging for the youth groups and their leaders when they don’t receive good support. 4-H news For their fourth meeting of the Granton 4-H Club “Focus on Living”; the “Leisure Lassies” met at the home of Cathy Riddell Wednesday evening. The meeting opened with the pledge followed by the roll call which was answered by “How to define a good citizen”. All members but two were present. During a discussion on the design for the book covers, it was decided to have a pic­ ture of a girl sitting in a rocking-chair with (lassie) a dog lying at her feet. A committee was chosen to work on this, namely Betty Johnson, Anne Marie Nixon and Rosemary Giesen. The field trip to Jack Miner’s bird sanctuary will cost $2.50 per person. A skit committee for Achievement Day, con­ sisting of members Susan Giesen, Bonnie Harloff and Susan Noon was named. The Government Canada and the order which the members Parliament came and what their duties were, was talked about, and possibilities of a Basic Freedom and what was a good citizen. The meeting closed with the 4-H motto and the girls were privileged to look at the quilt that Unit 3 of the UCW were working on. Brenda St. Dennis was the secretary for this meeting, By MRS. HEBER DAVIS SAINTSBURY With the installation of a new furnace service was resumed in St. Patrick’s church Sunday, following cottage services in the homes for the winter mon­ ths. Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Love and girls and Mr. & Mrs. Cameron Davis were Sunday dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Davis. Mrs. Love was observing a bir­ thday. Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis visited with them in the evening. A number of ladies gathered at the home of Mrs. Mary Kooy Tuesday to quilt. Mr. & Mrs. Fred Dobbs. Freddie and Patti returned home from two weeks holiday in Florida, Sunday. Mrs. Joan Greenlee gave her home Tuesday evening for the April A.C.W. meeting. Mrs. Marguerite Greenlee conducted the service followed by a plastic demonstration. Busy Buddies continue study ZION The seventh meeting of Elimville I, Busy Buddies was held March 29 with Elimville 2 at the Elimville Church. Mrs. Howard Pym and Cathy Cooper talked about government affairs, They explained the three types of government, and the freedom of rights. The’ roll call was answered and at the end of the meeting a quiz was held on government. Church news At St. Thomas Anglican Church Rev. Mary Mills conducted the morning worship on Sunday and took the text for her sermon from the Gospel of St. John Chapter 20 verse 21; this dealt with the resurrection appearances of our Lord to his disciples. Flowers were placed in the church from the funeral of the late Melville Westman in loving memory by his family. At the United Church Rev. Elwood charge of the Sunday morning ficiated Holy Communion. The text for Rev. Morden’s meditation was taken from the Gospel of St, Mark and entitled “ The Master’s Memorial.” The Sacrament of Holy Communion is a reminder that Jesus said “Do this in remembrance of Me,” said the minister. The children’s story was the legend of how the robin got it’s red breast. Three new mwembers were welcomed to Church membership transfer. By MISS JEAN COPELAND WOODHAM The annual Sunrise Ser­ vice of the Kirkton- Woodham Concerned Christians was held at the Woodham United Church Sunday due to being can­ celled the previous week. Bob Cowdrey opened with the poem “The Resurrecting Spirit Waits”. Everyone joined in the singing of a hymn. Janet Parkinson read the scripture followed by a poem “Spring’s Lesson” by Ellen Copeland. A skit entitled “What does the Cross mean to you?” was presented by Ann Robinson, David Blackler, Bob Cowdrey, Calvin Rodd, Cynthia and Ellen Copeland. The worship closed with a hymn. All retired to the basement for a delicious breakfast prepared by Mrs. Ted Brine, Mrs. John Rodd, Mrs. George Levy and Mrs. Robert Robinson. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Reg McCurdy, Jason and Jeffrey visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Jim Watson in Hamilton. Mr. & Mrs. Donald Morphy Cheryl and Roderick, London and Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Morphy, Leanne and Richard, Hyde Park were Sunday guests with Dr. & Mrs. George Morphy. The Kirkton-Woodham young people held their sunrist service, which had to be cancelled Easter Sunday due to the ice storm in the Woodham United Church on Sunday. Miss. Jean Copeland ac­ companied the Davis and Bilyea families to the Elmira maple syrup festival, Saturday.
