If unable to attend but wish to play Please Contact: Need drivers in races Frog races are again pec ted to be one of feature attractions Saturday’s Las Vegas Nite sponsored by the Exeter Lions club. It will be held at the South Huron Rec Centre. Frog race organizer Doug Ellison reports that Brett Lavier will be back to defend his title with his entry “Becker’s Best”. The toughest competition is expected to come from a number of female entrants. These include Jane MacLean, Rosanne Lavier, Mary Ann Snow and Lori Rowe. Ellison said Tuesday several more girls are needed to fill the roster for the races. The male entries include Bob “The Hawk” Drum­ mond, Jeff “Best Beef’’ Darling; Gary “Radio Shack” MacLean, Gord “Variety” Beuttenmiller and Gib “Irqnwood” Dow. Mr. & Mrs. Seibourne English, returned Friday evening from Florida. Our population now stands at 32. The Willing Workers of the United Church, held their April meeting, Saturday evening, at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ken Larmer. Several from here at­ tended the 40th wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Hut­ chinson at the Community Centre, Parkhill, Saturday evening. Mrs. Ed Bloomfield is a patient this week in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. Mrs. Ettie Bullock has been transferred to St, Joseph’s Hospital. The sympathy of this area is extended to Mr. & Mrs. Wm. T. Bullock, owing to the death Saturday evening of their son-in-law, Ron Leyten, Thedford. Mr. & Mrs. James Eagleson, who accompanied Mr, & Mrs. Hans Harms, Thedford, returned home this Tuesday, following a 16 day holiday in Germany and surrounding countries. Mrs. Greg Smith read the address, then Debbie, assisted by Barbara Wein, Marg and Sandy O’Neill and Mary Ann Desjardine, open­ ed the gifts. Mrs. Harold Fahner, Mrs. John MacKay and Mrs. Lloyd Eagleson conducted contests. 4-H clubs The organization meeting for the 4-HGarden Clubswill be held April 11 at 7 o’clock in the Community Centre. All girls 12 years old by May 1 are welcome to join. WILLIAM ROHDE About 60 people attended a bridal shower at Usborne Central School on Saturday evening in honor of Miss Nancy Cann and Fred Burton. The shower was given by Jim and Marg Love, Ray and Jean Cann and Reg and Jean Hodgert. The group made a bride’s book that was presented to the bride and groom. Debbie Riddell was chairlady for the program which consisted of accordion solos by Scott Hodgert. A mock wedding followed with Gordon Johnston Bernice Jeffery Jim Love, Ruth Jeffery Ross Hodgert Arnold Cann, Helen Hodgert, Gordon Johnston sang a solo accompanied by Jean Cann on the piano. Musical numbers were provided by a group which consisted of Ray Cann, Harry Jeffery, Bob Jeffery, Jack Cann, Gordon Johnston and Jean Hodgert. Debbie Riddell read the address and gifts were presented by Cheryl Cann and Patti Jane Love. Fred and Nancy replied to Deb­ bies remarks. United Church Women The April meeting of the United Church Women was held on Monday evening with 26 ladies presnt. Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne was chairlady for the program. Mrs. Jim Benton gave the Call to Worship, Mrs. Ballantyne gave the theme and Mrs. Arnold Cann read . the Scripture pertaining to spring. Mrs. Ballantyne gave the Meditation and prayer. Mrs. Cann gave a reading, “Springtimecomes to each of us in its own way.” A film “Canadian Spring” was very interesting. It was shown by Mrs. Rick Parker. Mrs. Benton received the offering and Mrs. Benton closed the worship service with prayer. A report from the Christian Development was given by Mrs. Barry Jeffery and Mrs David Passmore.Mrs. Benton told about Aruba, an island in the Netherlands Antilles, a group of West Indian islands just off the coast of South America. Mrs, William Roh­ de opened the business session of the meeting.lt was announced manse com­ mittee are planning a bar­ becue in the future. Mrs. Mr. & Mrs. Ray Cann returned home recently from Hawaii. Mr. &Mrs. Glen Lamport, Julie and Greg spent the mid-winter break in Florida. Mrs. Mary Hodgert of Exeter, Mr. & Mrs. Ross Hodgert attended the funeral of the late Nelson Hunkin at Teeswater last Wednesday. Mrs. Lome Passmore was a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter for a few days last week. Miss Nancy Cann and Fred Burton of Kingston, Mr. & Mrs. Gary Ford of Thornhill, Mr. & Mrs. Brian Smith and Jennifer of London spent the weekend and Lt. Col. Jack and Mrs. Cann and John of Belleville called on Sunday on Mr. & Mrs. Reg Hodgert. Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde spent the week-end with Mrs. MargueriteGibson of London. The flowers in the sanc­ tuary of the church on Sunday were placed there in memory of the late Gordon Stone by the family. Mr. & Mrs. Fred Nethway and Nicole of Strathroy visited on Saturday and Mr. & Mrs. William Baker and Shawn of London visited on Sunday with Mr. Mrs.Glenn Rohde. Rick Parker and Mrs. Barry E.
