The Catholic Womens League met last Monday evening at the Alhambra hall with 20 members present. President Ann Grootjen was in charge. The ladies were reminded of the C.W.L. Convention to be held in Brescia College, London, May 9 and 10 and they plan to send delegates. A thank you letter from Prime Minister Trudeau was read for the ladies donation to the annual leprosy day, January 26. A $25 donation was sent to Easter visitors With Mr. & Mrs. Alec Hamilton were Mr. & Mrs. Barry Hamilton, Ottawa, Debbie Hamilton, Peter­ borough, Brad Hamilton, Windsor and Brent. With Mr. & Mrs. Art Fink- beiner were Dr. & Mrs. C.B. Sanders, Welland and David Sanders, London and Mr.& Mrs. John McKenzie, Windsor. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Smith, Wiarton with her father, Ezra Webb. A Lenten donation of over $50 was sent to the Bishop’s* Peace and Development. During March the ladies will be helping the Meals on wheels program. Flowers from the World’s Day of Prayer service, held at the Catholic Church, were given to three sick members of the parish, The travelling prize donated by Karen Smeekens was won by Dien Kelders. Lunch is discontinued through Lent. Group H will be in charge for the April meeting. Many visit over Easter holiday Special music features services United Church Around 70 attended the Easter Sunrise service at 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning, followed by breakfast served by the Couples Club at the United Church. You are invited to attend a Faith and Life Crusade at the Zurich Community Centre each evening at 8 p.m. from March 26 through April 2. Anglican Church During the absence of Rev. Aubrey Bell, who is holidaying in England, services at St. Johns by the lake Anglican were con­ ducted by Rev. William Craven on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Special music with Missy Sandilands as soloist was enjoyed. Church news Flowers in the United Church Sunday morning were placed in loving memory of Billy Rader and Mrs. Mary Mollard by their families. Several Easter Lily plants were placed by church members. Rev. H. Moore’s sermon topic was “The Easter Story”. Special choir music was a trio, Ruth Scott, Dawn Crabe, and Marie McKinnon singing” Are not our hearts ? ’ ’ The choir members singing “Alleluia” Number one music and words by Donald Fishel, and “Now glad of heart,” a 16th cen­ tury German carol, were assisted by three young ladies. Marilyn Walper on finger cymbals, Linda Allister on wood blocks, and Cathy Allister on tam­ bourine. Institute visits Grand Bend Women’s Institute members who attended the dessert lun­ cheon, and W. I. Curator meeting, as guests of Hurondale W. I. and held at Usborne Central school last Wednesday afternoon were Nola Taylor, Mabel Gill, Elda Adams, Susie Devine, Minnie Curts, Jeanne Kading, Rosie Grigg, Jessie Finkbeiner, Verna Lovie and Annie Morenz. Guest speaker was Reg Finkbeiner who spoke on “Genealogy.” Mr. Fink- Mary Mollard dies in Clinton Funeral service was held Wednesday March 22, from T. Harry Hoffman, funeral home Dashwood for Mary Jane Mollard, of Huronview home Clinton, formerly of RR 3, Parkhill in her 92nd year, who passed away at Clinton hospital, Sunday March 19. Beloved wife of the late Ernest Mollard, and mother of Ray RR 3, Parkhill she was predeceased by three sons, Leslie, Orville and Addison and one grandchild, Leslie. Also surviving are five grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Rev. H. Moore of Grand Bend United Church of­ ficiated with interment at Grand Eend cemetery. Mrs. Lawrence Taylor has returned home from a visit in California with her daughter and family. Mr. & Mrs. Roy Morenz, Glenda and Tammy visited Saturday in Wellesley with her father, William Cook and also attended a wedding reception for Mrs. Morenz niece Jean Cook and Don Barron at Wellesley Com­ munity Centre. Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Gratton, Florida have holidayed her^e with Mr. & Mrs. Fred Gratton and other friends and relatives for the past two weeks. Congratulations to Christine Boogeman’s for submitting the winning “Hobbit” poster in the Grand Bend Public school contest, sponsored by the Lambton County library. Christine is a grade 8 student in the school and her prize was a book of her choice. At the ladies Monday afternoon bowling group at the Village Inn, the new hostess, Sandy Brewer, awarded prizes for the day to the ladies with highest and lowest score. High scorer was Elizabeth Norris, and low score went to Velma Huff, both of Grand Cove Estates. Rev. & Mrs. Moors, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Willert and several young people at­ tended the movie of “The Hiding Place,” in Sarnia last Tuesday evening. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Ridley, Mrs. Jean Gibbs, Lana, Lisa and Charlie visited a day last week with Mr. Ridley’s sister, Mrs. Tillie Shelton at Kincardine. Dinner guests Saturday with Mr. & Mrs. Tom Baird, on the occasion of Mr. Baird’s 75th birthday were Mr. & Mrs. Cal Vanner, Collingwood, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Baird and family.
