They ended the event with four wins, two ties and one loss, the latter to gold medal winning Stoneybrook. This season, the bantams won the silver medal in the Ilderton tournament and copped the Shamrock gold medals. In their confrontation with Stoneybrook, Thursday, the Legion bantams were clipped by a 3-0 count. The London entry went through the tournament undefeated. In Friday’s game, the locals were held to a 1-1 tie with Forest in one of the more exciting tilts on the agenda. Forest took a lead in the first period and the equalizer was fired home by Kevin Parsons, on with Dave Newton, in the second. Playing their final tour nament game, Saturday, Exeter went out in style with a 6-0 shutout victory over Huron East. Rick Lindenfield paced the attack with two goals and one assist, while single tallies were registered by Dave Newton, Pete Tuckey, Dave Bell and Tom Coates. Goaltender Rick Fletcher ended the tournament in a tie with the Mooretown net- minder for top goalie in the bantam division. He, along with Rick Lindenfield and Dave Bell, were chosen to play in Sunday’s all star game. Spring is the time for contingent of pacers and changes and a number of area harness horse owners and drivers are no exception. Crediton area horseman Jim Wallace will be * heading north in about week for summer racing at Sudbury. Wallace reported Sunday (hat he was waiting for confirmation of stable ac commodation at the nor thern Ontario track and would then head north with eight horses. When the London spring meet ends June 26, Wallace will be taking off for more pacers north, It will be the fifth year in succession for Wallace at Sudbury Downs. He was the leading driver in 1975. Exeter native Jack Darling who has been steadily increasing his modest stable will be heading south of the border in the near future. Darling will take his trotters to Buffalo when the track there opens April 15. Darling was the leading dash winner at the New York track last year. Many of his victories were chalked up by Terry Herbert. Another up and coming young trainer is Dennis Morrissey of Crediton. Morrissey currently has his stable split between Western Fair Raceway and Mohawk with one pacer Failsafe Lobel racing at Meadowlands, Other area trainers and drivers such as Andy„and Ken Hardy of Lucan will be coming back to London when the winter Windsor meet comes to a close April 8. THE NEXT ACT — Belmont goalie Wayne Boughner and an unidentified Exeter player appear to be practicing tumbling acts in this action in front of the net. Brian Taylor and another Belmont player watch the action. T-A photo r Exeter took a 1-0 lead in the contest when Dave Russell scored on an unassisted effort at the 4:01 mark, but from then on it was all St. Marys. They built up a 3-1 lead by the end of the first, added five more in the middle frame and coasted through to the end with three in the third. That loss pitted Exeter against Kincardine in the consolation round and it again looked as though the locals could be blown right out of the rink as Kincardine jumped into a quick 2-0 lead. However, Dave Russell potted one later in the period and the teams played scoreless hockey after that with Fred Gregus coming up with several big saves. His team mates just failed to get the equalizer in their efforts. All the games in the series have been decided by one or two goals with the exception of a 12-4 win posted by the Siskins in the second en counter with the Brantford area team. The other semi-final series is also expected to get un derway this weekend. One of the competitors will be Wingham, a team which the Hawks beat early in the season in an exhibition game. They’ll face either Haliburton or Lakefield. The Exeter contingent at Monday’s game in Stayner were cheering for the Siskins, for the basic reason of forcing a seventh game and giving some of the in jured Hawks tim6- to recuperate after the Belmont series. Only Steve Jennison and Fred Mommersteeg missed Tuesday night’s practise, but both are expected to be back in the lineup for. Sunday’s opener. The schedule for the balance of the series won’t be known until after tonight’s game in St. George. Local team officials plan to attend that contest as well to get another look at their upcoming opponents. JERRY MacLEAN & SON AUTOMOTIVE LTD. Our Store Is Big Enough To Serve Your Needs . . .
