Times-Advocate, 1978-03-30, Page 2Page 2 Times-Advocate, March 30, 1978 Maple Lodge reunion set By Joy Scheifele Plans are being made for a week-end reunion of teachers and students of the old S.S. 3 McGillivray Maple Lodge school this July. Com­ mittee Chairman Doug McNair reports that “the committee is open for suggestion and anyone wishing to help in anyway will be most welcome’’. The week-end of July 15 has been scheduled for a walk down memory lane of the old school days. A parade will start the week­ end off after lunch on Satur­ day which'will be followed by a number of sports events, including turtle races. The evening will feature a pork chop bar-b- que followed by a dance. Sunday’s activities will begin early with a breakfast served by the Ailsa Craig Business Association after which persons will be in­ vited to a community church service. In the afternoon a programme of reminicing is planned. Invitations have been sent to former student and teachers where addresses are known. Anyone with in­ formation on this is invited to contact the committee to insure as many being reach­ ed as possible. The committee includes vice-chairman George Lee, secretary Grace Dorman, treasurer Lyell Lee and other members Mary Sutherland, Donna Hind­ marsh, Bernice Siddall, Bob Armstrong, Don Hughes, Doug Owen apd Ken McIn­ tyre. Wednesday, June 7, an auction sale will be held to raise funds for expenses and anyone with any articles to donate should contact Lyell Lee. Auctioneer Hugh Filson will be on hand to lead the sale. The committee is also planning a scrap book for the reunion and are looking for old pictures or news ar­ ticles. In addition anyone wishing to provide pony rides for children on the Saturday afternoon is asked to contact Doug McNair. Proceeds will go to the person providing the rides, but it is hoped to have a number of activities available for the children on the Saturday afternoon. This year the carnival will be presented in two shows with the same numbers shown in the afternoon at 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. This year the emphasis will be on a popular sport, that of eating. It is titled “MacDonald Land” and will feature many characters from the MacDonald hamburger chain. These include Ronald MacDonald, Big Mac, Mayer McCheese, Grimace, Captain Crook, The Professor and Ham- burgler. Authentic costumes used in television promotions are being obtained from the fast food chain. Club professionals Brad Loosley and Marg Carey are busy putting together a variety of numbers in which all 140 members of the club will be participating. The guest skater will be Lori Jolley ofStrathroy.She recently was named novice champion in the Western Ontario sectional trials. Senior members of the club will be presenting a salute to the South Huron Rec Centre and will be joining their intermediate counter parts in a football game on ice. Added attractions will be the appearance of a skater on stilts and two local comedians appearing as a member of the armed forces and a nurse. They will be attempting to portray, “Forward March.” The enthusiastic figure skating club executive is headed by president Gaylen Josephson. Vice-president is Shirley Hart, Agnes Aunger is the treasurer and Mary Jen Chanyi handles the secretarial duties.
