YOUR
game with a 2-1 win
Lambeth ice, Friday. It was
their second victory on their
opponents’ rink in the series.
The teams battled through
a scoreless tie in the first
two periods, but Steve Gould
blinked the light for Exeter
early in the third on an un
assisted effort.
Lambeth knotted the
count with just over five
minutes remaining, but
Gould came back with his
second of the night at the
13:59 mark to cap the win.
Scott Lovie and Bill Fisher
drew the assists on the play.
In the Saturday thriller at
the rec centre, Steve Gould
started Exeter off quickly
when he was sent into the
clear off the opening faceoff
and hit an open corner with
only six seconds gone. Scott
Bogart had the assist on the
play. •
Lambeth evened the count
later in the opening period
and then Exeter came back
in the second when John
Wells found the range in a
scramble. Brett Batten and
Bill Fisher drew assists.
The locals maintained
their slim lead until the 3:30
mark of the final frame
when Lambeth blinked the
light to send the game into a
10-minute overtime. Neither
team could score in the ex
tra session, setting the stage
for the sixth game.

The Exeter midgets
dropped a 5-4 overtime
verdict to Lambeth,
Saturday, in the final game
of the Shamrock playoff “A”
tournament.
The win gave Lambeth the
gold medals.
Playing on their home ice,
Lambeth jumped into a two-
goal lead before Preston
Dearing found the range on a
play with Dave Atthill and
Doug Brooks in the final
seconds of the first.
The teams traded goals in
the second with Wayne
Parsons blinking the light for
Exeter on a play with Atthill
and Dave Bogart. Exeter
then evened the count at 3-3
when Atthill scored from
Brian Mercer and Bogart,
but Lambeth regained the
lead with just over two
minutes remaining in the
contest.
After pulling their goalie in
favor of an extra attacker,
Exeter sent the game into
overtime when Mercer found
the range on a play with
Dearing with 43 seconds left.
Lambeth scored the
sudden-death win at the 3:28
mark of the extra session.
Exeter gained the final
r
round by ousting Dorchester
earlier in the day with a 2-0
shut-out.
Both Exeter tallies came
in the final period, the first
off the stick of Dearing and
the second being registered
by Bogart. Brooks and
Dearing drew assists on one
tally each.
Steve Wells and Doug
Hoffman shared the net-
minding duties to post the
whitewash.
Lambeth gained a bye into
the finals when Belmont
withdrew from the playoff
action due to OMHA com
mitments.
In an exhibition contest at
the rec centre, Wednesday,
Exeter posted a 5-3 win over
Seaforth, overcoming an
early two-goal deficit.
Scoring for the locals were
Dave Atthill, Wayne Par
sons, Jeff Fuller, Doug
Brooks and Dave Bogart.
The latter and Preston
Dearing had two assists.
