T-A photo Times-Advocate, March 16, 1978 Page 7 Staff a 4-H girls meet sixth meeting at the home of their leader Mrs. George Vivian. Roll Call was an­ swered by all members. Jill Norris was chosen by the members to present the exhibit at Achievement Day. Barbara Templeman and Jill Norris demonstrated two exercises. Mrs. Jeffery read material on Safety in the home and Hazardous Product Symbols, then showed examples of safety lables. Mrs. .Vivian then discussed electrical hazards and showed examples. She then read material on storage and safety in By MRS. J. TEMPLEMAN STAFFA The third meeting of Staffa number one 4-H club was held February 27 at the Staffa hall. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge which was followed by a skit on the topic of live theatre. Following this the members of Staffa numbers one, two and three and Dublin numbers one and two rotated in groups around the hall to different areas where guest speakers were holding discussions. Guest speakers were Walter McKenzie on photography, Mrs. Jean Cary on the art of reading, Mrs. Elmer Dow on music and art appreciation, Mrs. Ross McPhail and Mrs. Carter Kerslake on History and historical interests, Mrs. Bert Daynard on nature and a speaker from Country Flowers gardening. Mrs Jerry Grubb and Mrs. Wm Morley, were in charge of the next part of the meeting. Everyone join­ ed in singing “Smile”. Mrs. Grubb read- an article “Modern Women Becoming Lazy” and introduced the guest speaker. Mrs. Elizabeth Schroeder of the Exeter library. Her subject was “Take time to read - books are silent friends”. Mrs. Schroeder had a number of interesting books on display and also discuss­ ed many of them. Mrs. Grubb listed a number of Canadian authors. Mrs. Morley read an article “Many faces of love” which was on an actor from Lon­ don. Hume Cronyn and his wife Jessica Tandy. The meeting closed with Mrs. Grubb reading an arti­ cle “Spending your day the happiest way”. Monday evening the Institute held another euchre at the hall. Prize winners were; ladies high - Mrs. Hazel Coward: lone - Mrs. Percy Noels: mens high - Floyd Cooper: lone - Laverne Skinner; low - Earl Stephen ; lucky score card - Mrs. Alien Johns. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hogg, Thorndale and Mrs. Bill Bin­ ning, Mitchell visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Routly. Several from the com­ munity attended the gospel program at Woodham United Church Sunday even­ ing. The Crystalaires provided the entertainment. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Cooper visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Don Parsons and family of Hensall to celebrate a couple of birthdays in March. The roll call will be answered by bringing a homemade gift for ex­ change. Mrs. Tom Hern showed a quilt top that had been piec­ ed together. The Institute decided to quilt it at the home of Mrs. Ward Hern and donate it to the Heritage and Hospital Auxiliary.
