HomeMy WebLinkAboutTimes-Advocate, 1978-03-02, Page 2Page 2 Times-Advocate, March 2, 1978 Damage high in collisions Damages in the range of $2,000 were sustained in each of three accidents in­ vestigated this week by of­ ficers of the Exeter police department. Friday a three vehicle ac­ cident occurred at the in­ tersection of Main and Vic­ toria streets. Involved were vehicles driven by Dan Bell, 46 Thomas street and Donna Hamather, Zurich and a police cruiser driven by Constable Brad Sadler. Minor injuries were suf­ fered by Bell and a ‘ passenger Benny Phillips. Constable Kevin Short set damages at $2,150. Ten minutes later on Sanders at Main, vehicles driven by Jan MacDougald, Fullarton and Brad Murray, Exeter were in collision. Damages were listed at $2,100 by Constable Brad Sadler. At 3 a.m. Saturday, a vehi­ cle driven by Brad Johns, 123 Victoria street, Exeter went out of control and struck a hydro pole on Carl­ ing, south of Mill. Constable Sadler estimated damages at $2,000. Scout week is observed February 19-26 was International Scout-Guide week. The Exeter Brownie packs celebrated the February 22 “Thinking Day” with a salute to China. They hosted the Huron Park Brownie pack at the Exeter Scout Hall. The evening included a Chinese supper, films and games. The Exeter Girl Guides held an International evening, on February 22 which included a pot luck supper, candle light service, panel discussion, games and camp fire. Exeter Brownies, Girl Guides, Rangers, Huron Park Brownies and Girl Guides attended the Church Service Sunday at the Exeter Anglican Church. Crow seen in district By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD Your correspondent saw a crow Saturday. Spring can­ not be too far away. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Thomson, Woodham visited Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Jeffery. Fred Johns returned to Seaforth Hospital last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Etherington and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Snow returned home on the week-end from Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Miller returned home Sun­ day from Acapulco. Miss Susan Vanderspek of Woodham spent the week­ end with Miss Pat Hodgert. Miss Diane Hodgert, Welland is spending this week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hodgert. Mr. and Mrs. William Rohde spent Saturday even­ ing with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pepper, Exeter, and were Sunday evening guests with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Rohde, Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Churchill and Bradley, Harrietsville spent the wook-end with Mr. and Mrs. Murray Dawson. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cun­ nington and family visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. James Romphf, Arkona. A large number of people called at the Hopper-Hockey Funeral Home, Exeter Sun­ day and Monday to pay their respects to the late Mrs. Bruce Tuckey. The sym­ pathy of the community is extended to Mr. Tuckey and Mr. and Mrs. John Pym and family. The manse committee and some other ladies from Elimville and Thames Road catered to the Upper Thames Conservation ban­ quet at Kirkton-Woodham Community Centre Tuesday evening.
