Speaking on the subject of the Proper Use Of Time. Kevin won first place in the Northwest Middlesex County competition held at East Williams Memorial Public School, Cheryl Lynn, grade six student at McGillivray School captured second place. Speaking on Choosing A Career, Cheryl advised, “If you’re going to be a bum, ....... Kevin Stewart you might as well be an educated one”. She outlined various professions and education required to meet requirement to enter the profession. The two winners will compete in the Middlesex County finals scheduled for March 1 at Medway High School. Four area schools par­ ticipated in the contest. Other speakers included Bob Dixon and Dale Gooding from Parkhill-West Williams School, Gina Viglianti and Judy Van Massenhoven of Sacred Heart School, Parkhill, Mary Ann Parkinson of McGillivray and Beth Smith of East Williams. Judges for the contest included Cathy Donley, teacher at A.B. Lucas Secondary School, the Reverend Robert Marshall of Strathroy District High School and Hank O’Shea, president of the London Toastmaster Association. , Seniors get action grant By Joy Scheifele At their monthly euchre party Wednesday, Ailsa Craig senior citizens learned that a $400 Action Age ’77 grant had been received from the Ministry of Com­ munity and Social Services. Discussion took place on many of the small needs the money may be spent on such as a record player for the activity centre, a new coffee maker, games, etc. Enough seniors were' present that there were 101 tables of euchre players. This month’s winners in­ cluded Mrs. Ellen Collins for the ladies high, Mrs. Hannah Clarke, ladies’ low, Mrs.: Effie Harrison, Men’s high and Jack Priestly, men’s low. Lone hand winner was Sinclair McIntosh. The seniors will have a chance to reminise Wed­ nesday evening, when a movie will be shown of Ailsa Craig and its residents which was taken back in the 1940’s. In March a trip is being planned to the London Gardens for a program of Nashville Grand Ole Opry music. Expect more teams in H-P Bob Hoffman of Dashwood who is an executive member of the Huron-Perth in­ termediate baseball league said Tuesday he expects a larger grouping this year. Hoffman said he has had definite assurance that Tillsonburg will be playing an interlocking schedule with Huron-Perth teams and Walsingham is also a possibility. A junior club from Stephen township is expected to be organized to join the Dash­ wood Tigers, Crediton Mets and Clinton Colts in regular league play. The Dashwood Tigers are holding their annual fund raising dance at the Dash­ wood Community Centre, February 25.
