FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA The annual congregational meeting of Centralia United Church was held in the schoolroom of the church Sunday afternoon, January 22. There was a good atten­ dance. Mr. Terry Somerville opened the meeting with a Bible reading. Rev. H. J. Moore chaired the meeting. Mrs. E. Powe was ap­ pointed secretary for the meeting. The various reports were read and adopted. In matters of business it was decided to continue with the family plan for the Church observer for another year. It was noted that storm windows had been installed on the windows of the choir loft. The officers for 1978 will remain the same as the previous year with the ex- ception of one Steward Board member who re­ quested to be relieved of his duties. An informative report of the Manse Committee was presented by Mrs. Ralph Lightfoot. ' Thursday, March 30 at 8 p.m. was a suggested date for Mr. Harold Knisley to meet with the charge in Cen­ tralia Church for the pur­ pose of assessing the spiritual standing. A vote of thanks was extended to Rev. Moore for presiding at the meeting. Mr. Terry Somer­ ville closed the meeting with prayer. Stephens was elected chairman and Mrs. David Cooper was secretary for the meeting. Reports from the treasurer, Mrs. Lois Jones showed a most successful year financially with a good balance to begin this new year. The Mission and Ser­ vice recorded givings amounting to $1,710.85. The U.C.W. had contributed a good deal toward im­ provements. New front doors, new steps and a sidewalk were felt to be a must for 1978. Reports from the Sunday School, Happy Hour and Adventurers have shown a very healthy program amongst the children and youth. The Clerk of Session, Emerson Kyle, expressed the thanks of all to those who have given leadership in all the activities of the church and especially to the people who have completed their term of service on the itkills- Stephens for their leadership and voiced the good wishes of all as they approach retirement at the end of June. The new minister, Rev. Robert McMullen, will take over July 1. To assist him the following will be the Ses­ sion of St. Andrew’s: David Turner, Robert Turner, David Cooper, Mrs. Ronald McGregor, John Sinclair, Edison McLean, John A. Cooper, William J.F. Bell, Egbert Faber and Emerson Kyle. The members of the com­ mittee of Stewards are as follows: Mr. Wm. Consitt, Mr. Lloyd Cooper, Mr. Lloyd Lostell, Mr. 0. Workman, Mr. Eldin Kerr, Mr. Grant Jones, Mr. Hank Binnendyk, Mr. Keith Love, Mr. Ray Consitt, Mr. Robert Kinsman, Mr. Robert Cooper, Mr. Tom Workman. The president of the U.C.W. is Mrs. Mabel Kyle, the representative of the U.C.W. to the official board is Mrs. Susan Faber. The congregational treasurer is Mrs. Lois Jones and Mrs. Mary Moffatt and Mrs. Barbara Cooper are the organists for 1978. IRVIN RADER DASHWOOD Mr. & Mrs. Hubert Miller and Dianne returned home last Wednesday following a two week vacation in Car- tayena Columbia. While in South America they had the pleasure of seeing their daughter Vickie perform in the ice show “Holiday .On Ice”. Vickie is looking forward to coming home March 6 for a vacation before leaving for Germany and a European tour with the show. Lisa Miller spent two weeks with her grandparents in Dashwood while her parents were on vacation. - 4-H meeting Dashwood club number two of the 4-H girls held its first meeting of the spring project “Focus on Living”, at the community centre with fourteen girls present and the leaders Mrs. Earl Keller and Mrs. Ray Rader. Following opening exercises the girls answered the roll call, “What 4-H means to me?” Officers elected were: president- Sandra Datars, vice-pre si dent-Pauline Dietrich, secretary-Judith Mellecke, press reporter- Mary Watson. Mrs. Keller discussed Focus on 4-H and Mrs. Rader discussed Good Mental Habits. The next meeting will be held February '2.
