Atoms beat Ilderton in two games,
run season record to 10 wins

On Sunday, the locals
upped Ilderton by a con-
\ncing 6-2 count at the rec
cntre and on Tuesday night
tey nipped the same squad
by a 2-1 margin in Ilderton.
In Sunday’s game at the
rec centre, Brett Batten
registered a hat trick per
formance to lead the locals
to their 6-2 win. Scott Lovie
chipped in with a pair of
tallies and Bill Fisher
added the other one.
Sean Whiteford was
credited with three assists in

the game and picking up one
each were Tim Easterbrook
and George Pratt.
Rick Gilfillan, who shared
the netminding duties with
Jim Lewis in Sunday’s win,
moved to a forward line for
Tuesday night’s contest and
ended up being the scoring
hero as he netted both goals.
He broke a scoreless tie at
the 2:44 mark of the second
period when he finished off a
play with Brett Batten and
Jeff Pfaff and added his
second marker just after the
mid-way mark of the final
period by banging in a
rebound off a shot by Batten.
John Wells also picked up an
assist on the {May.
That goal turned out to be
the winner, as Ilderton took
advantage of two Exeter
penalties to spoil Jim Lewis'
shutout attempt with two
minutes left in the game.
Exeter managed to hold off
the Ilderton power play
through the final two
minutes.
Lucan beats
bantams
The Exeter bantam 11
squad dropped their only
contest of the week, ending
up on the short end of a 7-4
verdict with Lucan at the
rec centre, Wednesday.
The teams traded early
goals and then Lucan
jumped into a 4-1 lead and
never looked back, although
Exeter did get to within one
tally mid-way through the
second period.
Scott Pincombe paced the
Exeter attack with a hat
trick performance, while
Jim Siddall fired the other.
Picking up assists were
Mike Murray, Scott Batten,
Mark Vandergunst, Siddall
and Steve Prout.
Brad Degraw and Paul
Wraith fired a pair each to
lead the Lucan scoring at
tack. Singles came off the
sticks of Robert Simons,
Dean Scott and Steve Glenn.

Lucan, the Mitchell Hawks
scored two goals in the last
minute and 35 seconds to
edge the Lucan Irish 6-4.
The only Exeter Hawks
scheduled game in
Tavistock Friday nigit was
cancelled. Lucan fames
Saturday against Tanstock
and Sunday with Mitchell
were also postponed.
This week the Ha^ks will
be at home Friday/night at
the South Huron Rd? Centre
to meet the Mitchel Hawks.
The Lucan Iris* were at
home last night, Wednesday
to the Thamesf/rd Trojans
and Saturday ni£ht they pay
a visit‘to Belmont.
Ken Murray scored his
third goal cf the night at
18:25 of the third period to
put the Iris! on even terms
with Mitchfll at 4-4 but the
Hawks sored the winner
with the Iish playing a man
short andless than a minute
to go. Tby were also able to
score the sixth goal into an
empty net.
Jim Maguire was the
marksman on the other
Lucan goal.
