Hopefully there will not be anymore big blows this winter, or the snow plows will not have anywhere to put the snow, Smiley ... ~ Continued from Page 4 winter. Ask a hydro lineman. Ask a snowplow operator who has to work a double shift. Ask a cop. It’s not necessary, I believe, to ask a guy who has a fuel oil franchise. Aside from the sights of winter —■ red, runny noses, slush and salt all over your front lawn, 800 pounds of icicles hafrom your eaves — there are the sounds. HEMMED IN — Last week's storms boxed in many cars in their parked positions. The vehicle shown above owned by Mrs. Beatrice England of Creditor is no exception. T-A photo The readers write Hacking coughs on every side. The clunk and rattle and slam of the snow plow under your window at 4 a.m. The sweet howl of the wind about your windows. The crash of falling ice. The thump and gulp of the furnace sucking its life blood. My solution? Either give it back to the Indians, poor devils, or send everybody over 40 south for six mon ths, and let the other idiots revel in it. And pay the bills. To the editor Bill Batten, his wife Kaaren and sons Scott, Steven, Brett and B J. Gratitude is the hardest of all emotions to express. There are no words capable of conveying all we feel at this time. Until we find words more adequate to express our thoughts Thank-you will have to do. How can we ever repay you? We said, many many times. How can we ever in all this world, Repay the things you did? Perhaps we never can repay To you and to your family. But we can pass that kindness on to others, we may see. And though you never need our help ’ We pray you never do By helping others, Will repay Our heartfelt debt to you. "Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves." Sincerely Glenn, Mary and Bill Fisher Editor The Times-Advocate Sir: One of the hottest-selling books in Canada (despite all attempts to suppress it) is “Bilingual Today, French Tomorrow,” by Lieutenant Commander J.V. Andrew, Canadian Armed Forces (Retired). In this book Lt. Cdr. Andrew exposes the diabolical plot of Pierre Trudeau, Gerard Pelletier and Marc Lalonde to convert Canada from an English- speaking country to a French-speaking country, “Bilingual Today, French Tomorrow” is “must” ready for every English- speaking person who intends to remain in Canada. We ig nore this book at our peril. If your local bookstore doesn’t have it you can order it at $3.50 a copy postpaid from: The Canadian League of Rights, Box 130, Flesher- ton, Ontario N0C1E0. Very truly yours. Malcolm Patterson Dear Sir: I attended the meeting of N.U.R.S.E. at the South Huron Rec. Centre on Sun day, January 29, 1978, with an open mind, hoping many of my concerns over the “proposals” of the College of Nurses would be explain ed. I am not convinced that competence and upgrading are the “real” issues behind these proposals. I came away with a nagging feeling of distrust and wondering what lies beneath the sur face of this “iceberg.” We should all be concern ed over these “proposals” whether we’re working or not. I I I urge you to study the proposals thoroughly. Ask questions. Don’t rely on others to do it. As Jack Riddell said, once you have had something taken away from you, or given it up, it’s almost impossible to get it back again. We must show concern for our profession or we will no longer be professionals.
