work.

Stan Preszcator and girls.
Mrs. Robert England,
Huron Park and Mrs. Stan
Preszcator visited Monday
with Mrs. Lloyd England in a
London hospital.
Mrs. Joe Thornton is a
patient in Seaforth Hospital.

guests with the latter’s
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Edward
Regele.
and hearing from students in
the west. Too bad. our class
couldn't do this.
Speeches are on their way.
.Many students are getting
ready for the speak-off day
here. .Many classes will be
holding their speak-offs
between now and January
27. The school finals are in
February.
Our school will be
represented at public speak
ing contests held by the
Crediton men’s club and the
Grand Bend Lions club.
At the beginning of the
year we held a chocolate bar
campaign. If any person in
the primary grades sold five
or more bars they will enter
free to the movie “Gus".
Above the primary level,
those selling 10 or more bars
will also have free admis
sion.
If you didn't sell any bars
you have to pull 50 cents out
of your pocket or purse.

The Grand Bend Branch of
the Lambton County library
is pleased to announce that,
“The Young People’s
Theatre Group,’’ of Toronto,
will be performing “The
Hobbit”, by J.R.R, Tolkin a
play for children of all ages
and all Tolkin fans.
It will be presented
Wednesday March 22 at 3:00
p.m. in the Grand Bend
publicxschool auditorium.
The play is sponsored by
the South West library
system, with the assistance
of the Ontario Arts Council.
There will be some audience
participation and a
discussion following the
play. Admission is free.
The fourth annual Grand
Bend Legion novice hockey
tournament held at the
Zurich arena on Sunday
proved to be very successful
with the Thedford novices
taking the top spot with a
perfect three game record.
The Exeter Waxers took
the “B” flight championship
with an 8-1 victory over
Parkhill.
David Russell lead the way
for Exeter with four goals
and an assist.
Paul Mellecke scored the
first goal of the game at the
2:48 mark of the first
unassisted.
Russell then scored two
consecutive goals to up the
Waxer’s margin by three.
Early in the second period,
the Exeter squad scored two
goals only 20 seconds apart
as Brian Quinn and Jeff
Dalrymple did the damage.
Following Parkhill’s lone
goal of the game, the Waxers
scored three more goals to
put the game out of reach.
Dalrymple scored from
Russell, Russell scored with
an assist from Steven
Wraight and Russell then
scored his fourth goal of the
game.
Exeter bests neighbors
It was the novice version of.
a subway seriesasthe Waxers
tackled Huron Park with
Exeter posted an 8-0 victory.
Tim Moore scored first for
Exeter with Brian Quinn
assisting, Quinn picked up
his second assist of the
evening as Dale Kints
scored,
Quinn added to the Exeter
lead with a goal of his own at
2:06 of the second period
with Dalrymple assisting.
Two goals each by Russell
and Dalrymple and a single
by Quinn finished the scoring
for the Waxers.
Tourney winners beat
Waxers
The eventual winners of
the “A” flight, Thedford
dropped Exeter into the “B”
division of the tournament
with a 5-2 victory.
The Waxers scored their
first goal of the game at the
7:55 mark of the second
period with David Russell
finding the range with Tom
Oke and Doug Clark
assisting.
Exeter scored its final goal
of the game as Russell
scored from Scott Heywood.
Bend edges Zurich
In the first game of the day
between local teams, Grand
Bend defeated Zurich as
Danny McLean scored two
goals in the first period to
lead the resort squad to their
win. Scott Willert scored the
lone Zurich goal.
Blyth wins squeaker
It was a goaltenders’
battle as the Blyth novices
scored a 1-0 victory over a
tenacious bunch of Grand
Bend youngsters. The
winning goal came at 3:50 of
the third period.
