The midget contest gets underway at 4:00 and will be followed by the other two games, as well as a battle between the Exeter and Ilderton atom clubs. Second game in all three series will be played in St. Marys on Saturday, February 4. Atoms lose The Exeter atoms failed in their bid tu get into the winner’s circle at the annual Seaforth tournament this weekend. The locals dropped a hard- fought 3-1 decision to Goderich in their opener, Saturday, and then were on the short-end of a similar 3-1 margin in overtime against Kincardine in their second start on Sunday. In both games, the Exeter crew scored the first goal and held territorial edges throughout, but they couldn’t come up with the victories. Scott Bogart fired the successful shot in Saturday’s game against Goderich on a play with Scott Lovie in the opening minutes of the first period. Goderich knotted the count with only one second to go before the break at the end of the second period and that tally appeared to take the steam out of the local attack. Sean Whiteford was the marksman on the goal that started Exeter off against Kincardine. That too came in the early minutes and Kincardine evened the count shortly after and the teams battled on even terms for the remainder of regulation time. In overtime, Kincardine scored twice to grab the victory. The local lads were fuming in their dressing room after the contest, claiming that two goals had not been awarded them by the referees. In the first period, Scott Lovie rifled a hard shot that appeared to be in and out but play continued and in the second frame, George Pratt shoved a puck across the line in a scramble, but the referees waved that one off. Bantams win two The Exeter Legion ban tams posted two wins in Shamrock action this week, clobbering London by a verdict of 8-0 on Monday and then travelling to Dorchester the following night for a 5-3 win. Rick Lindenfield paced the one-sided attack against London with a hat-trick performance. Bill Glover added a pair and singles were fired by Al Gaiser, Wayne Smith and Dave Underwood. In the Tuesday night cohtest, Exeter had to battle back from a two-goal deficit in the second to beat Dor chester. The goals came off the sticks of Pete Tuckey, Rick Lindenfield, Dave Bell, Dave Underwood and Kevin Parsons. Pee Wees lose four Exeter’s pee wee squad faced a busy week with four games and they ended up losers in all four. They started the week off with a 4-2 loss to Strathroy and then were nipped 4-3 by London on Saturday in a game at the London Gar dens. Playing in the annual Legion tournament at the rec centre, Sunday, the locals were drubbed 7-2 by Goderich and they finished the week off with a heart breaking 1-0 loss to Dor chester on Tuesday. John Kernick scored both goals in the loss to Strathroy, while in the London game, markers were recorded by Steve Laithwaite, Kernick and Doug Scott. Kernick and Chris Van Gerwen were the marksmen in the Legion tournament game against Goderich. In Dorchester, the locals appeared to be hanging on for a scoreless tie, but the hosts finally beat Pete Dearing with just over a minute to go in the game to grab the win.
