The sewer is being built to facilitate the new shopping centre. Veri had advised council he would object to the bylaw, noting that no other land owners had been required to pay for such development costs in the past. However, the 0MB ad vised this week that the bylaw had been approved with no objections being received. Most of the paper and legal work has now been com pleted for the shopping centre. The Stratford law firm of Mountain, Mitchell, Hill this bill on for the week submitted a $1,839 for acting town’s behalf in the matter. The ministry of tran sportation and com munications have approved a public works budget of $89,600 for Exeter this year. That’s $49,400 for con struction of roads and storm sewers and $40,200 for maintenance. That is the total amount on which the ministry will provide subsidy, although council can apply for an additional amount if they so wish. Council learned that changes are forthcoming in the municipal licensing of businesses and their com ments are being requested. “Are they taking away our power to licence?” questioned Councillor Derry Boyle. Mayor Shaw said just the opposite was being proposed to make municipalities more responsible for licencing. wood and coniferous forests, and open fields. Bridges are provided at wateq crossings. The length of the trail from Exeter to the rear of the Morrison dam area and return is seven kilometres. The bridge crossing the Ausable River upstream from the reservoir was destroyed by vandals, and at present there is no crossing for cross-country skiers. If ice conditions become favourable, the cross country ski trail will be extended across the ice and loop back on the north side of the reservoir. Both the snowmobile and cross-country ski trails will be closed during periods of mild weather to protect private property. Closure signs will be posted when this occurs. Parking facilities exist at the South Huron Recreation Centre and at the Morrison dam conservation area. In Hay swamp the con servation authority is grooming 30 kilometres of snowmobile trails through their property. The trails are located in the area north of highway 83, five kilometres west of highway 4. Access to the Parkhill conservation area is by the concession road north of highway 7 two kilometres east of Parkhill. The area offers 25 kilometres of groomed snowmobile trails and two cross-country ski trails totalling nine kilometres. Besides the winter trails, the Parkhill conservation area has a toboggan hill. Parking facilities are provided. A winter fun day will be held at the area on February 5. 50C 50; OFF OUR FAMOUS HOT SMORGASBORD 50* For the Finest in Smorgasbord Dining.........visit the SANDPIPER INN FULLY LICENSED UNDER l.L.B.O.
