Russians are calling Friday the 13th is sup posed to be an unlucky day but for a receptionist at the T-A for a moment it seemed like April Fool’s Day. Answering the phone about 11:30 Friday morning she was asked, “Is this the Russian Embassy in Ot tawa?” When told it was the Ex eter Times Advocate, the caller explained she receiv ed the local number from a Bell operator. On later investigation, the T-A learned the Ottawa ex change of the Russian Em bassy does begin with the same numerals as' Exeter 235, but of course a different area code. Put lien on school The Huron County Board of Education was told Wednesday that a mechanics’ lien claim had been made against the Exeter Public SchboV. ‘The board learned that solicitors for Culliton Brothers Ltd., the construction firm that did repair and alteration work on the school had filed a lien against the school for $37,308 plus costs. John Cochrane, director of education, told the board that Culliton Brothers was the firm that handled the work but not the firm that received the board contract for the project. He said F. C. Marlatt Developments (Hamilton) Limited, of Dundas, Ontario, had been awarded the contract by the board. Cochrane said Culliton Brothers had been sub contracted by Marlatt to do the work and that it was his understanding that the sub contractor had not been paid. He said the matter had been turned over to the architect for the project and the board solicitor to see how it can be handled. He added that it remained for the board to wait to see what action was recommended by the solicitor and go on from there.
