The week started off dismally for the Jets as they lost 8*3 to Woodstock, Wednesday night and were on the short end of a 5-2 count to the Preston Jesters, Friday. Things changed Sunday afternoon as the Jets edged the Stratford Perths 5-4 in overtime The Sunday victory over Stratford put the two teams into a tie for the last playoff position. The same two clubs met again in Stratford Tuesday night but the deadlock continues as the game ended in a 4-4 overtime tie. The schedule this week for the Jets calls for only two games. They will be at home at the Ilderton arena Friday night at 8.15 p.m. to the Woodstock Royals and Sunday afternoon they travel to Durham to meet the Huskies at 2 p.m. Lots of shots In Tuesday’s tie contest, the Jets held a good edge in shots on goal over their Stratford opposition. They outshot the Perths 57 to 39 with 13 coming in the 10 minute overtime session. The Jets held a 2-1 lead after the first period on goals by Gary Fera and Ron Tyler while Randy Miller replied for the Perths. Tyler who was up to the L-I club from the Strathroy Blades junior team hit on a screen slap shot with the assist going to Barry Baynham. Ray Love and Baynham provided the assists for Fera’s score which came on a power play. Each team scored one goal in the middle frame. Mitch Kennedy was the Stratford marksman and Gary Fera hit for the Jets on passes from Ray Love and Brian Murphy.
