afternoons
The Senior Citizen’s held
their January meeting on
January 4 at 2:p.m. A trial of
afternoon meeting is being
held during the winter
months and a very good
group of about 50 attended.
Business matters were
discussed by the President
Mrs. Rundle and roll call by
the Secretary Miss Greenlee.
It was voted to carry on in
February with afternoon
meetings on February i.
First Wednesday of the
month.
Musical numbers were
provided for program by
Mrs. JBroadfoot on piano, Mr.
Orr on saxophone; Tom
Walker on guitar and Frank
Forrest on violin.
Lunch was served by the
committee of the month. A
committee was appointed to
bring in a new slate of of
ficers at next meeting. Cards
were played before and after
program.

McCallum, Nairn, following
the election of Middlesex
warden Mr. McCallum on
Thursday.

The euchre party that was
to be held at the community .

cancelled on account of the
storm. The next party will be

Mr.George Hepburn a
former well known and
esteemed resident of this
community passed away in
the Bluewater Rest home on
Friday. Sympathy is ex
tended to his daughter Jean,
Mrs. Wilber Palmer of St.
Catharines.

visiting for the past few
weeks at the home of her

I More than 350,000 old age
pensioners in Ontario are
being asked to re-apply for
Guaranteed Income Supple
ment as quickly as possible
if they want to continue .
receiving payments, Health
and Welfare officials in
Toronto said today.
Guaranteed income
supplement is an income
tested assistance program
for old age pensioners who
have little or no income out
side of Old Age Security.
According to W.A. Wright,
Regional Director, Old Age
Security, annual re
application for the G.I.S. is
essential because the in
come levels tend to change
fairly regularly for a large
percentage of retired peo
ple, “Our objective is to
make certain that they ate
receiving the proper amount
of Guaranteed Income
Supplement if eligible,” he
said.
Mr; Wright said that the
regional office in Ontario
has completed the mailing
of the 350,000 re-applications
to existing recipients.
“Those who fail to re-apply
by a March 31 deadline may
find payments have been
discountinued,” he said,
