Predeceased by a daughter Mildred, Mrs. Bryden Taylor (1975). The funeral was held Saturday from the M. Box and Son Funeral Home, Parkhill with Rev. E. Hancock officiating. Prior to taking up residence in Blyth, the deceased operated Beaton’s Bakery here for several years. Surviving is his wife Dorothy (Green) Beaton and sons Ronald of London, Beverly of Mississauga, brothers Alvin Beaton Detroit-, Carmen Beaton, Miami, Florida and sister Mrs. Henry (Pearl) Wind­ sor, Dunedin, Florida. Tuckersmith township council at its meeting Tuesday night gave its full­ timeemployees a four per­ cent increase plus 50 percent of the fringe benefit package, for a total increase varying from 5.1 to 5.5 percent. This includes the clerk treasurer, road superin­ tendent and his full-time staff, Vanastra recreation centre manager , and assistant manager, and director and assistant director of the Vanastra day care centre. Road syperintendent, Allan Nicholson will receive $5.25 per hour for any service calls after hours for the Egmondville water system. Miss Karen McEwing, director of day care centre and her assistant, Mrs. Debbie Denomme, each will receive an extra $400 each in 1978 because they have at­ tained certification status. Reeve Ervin Sillery, deputy reeve Robert Bell, councillors Robert Fotheringham and Robert Drummond will be attending the 3-day Good Roads Convention in Toronto in February and will be paid $75 per day per delegate plus $29 registration fee each plus the additional registration fee for their spouses. Mrs. Marie Fitzsimmons, Bayfield, animal control officer for the township, will be able to use the Seaforth Veterinary Clinic or the Goderich Veterinary Clinic facilities for impounding stray dogs she picks up. Mrs. Fitzsimmons will be paid $2. for each dog tag she sells in the township — a ratepayer with one male dog or one spayed female on premises will be charged $5 per dog tag; for each ad­ ditional male or spa'yed female the tag will be $20 for each. For female, if only one kept on the premises, the tag will be $10 for two female dogs kept on the premises the tag will be $25 for the second female; for each additional male or female after two animals the charge will be $30 for each tag. Council accepted the offer of the Huron Federation of Agriculture which shares the township office building at Vanastra, for $50 monthly for the last six months when township took over the rental of the building and will pay $100 per month for rental for the next six months. The Bank of Mon­ treal owns the building. Council passed a borrowing by-law for $600,000 to meet the current expenditures of the council until the current revenue has been received. Robert Dempsey, Huron County engineer and Lee Auchier, ministry of tran­ sportation and com­ munications, discussed the Hensall road east of Hensall which the township had asked the county to take over as a county road. This was refused on the grounds it did not meet county standards. Passed for payment were the following accounts: Vanastra day care centre, $3,821.29; Vanastra recreation centre, $3,177.04; general accounts, $13,972.21; and roads, $19,035.44 for a total of $40,005.98. An application for a tile drainage loan for $4,800 was approved. Stanley and Tuckersmith townships will hold a joint meeting January 31 at 8 p.m. at the Brucefield fire station. DASHWOOD The gducation and cultural activities group with Mrs. Emil Becker, convener was in charge of the January meeting of Dashwood W.I. ’ Roll call was answered by telling a point of learning best remembered from school days. Guest? present were also asked. President, Mrs. Ray Rader presided for the business. The institute will cater for the annual Firemen,’s supper. The leaders for 4-H Mrs. Gordon Bender,Wendy Beaver, Mrs. Carl Keller and Mrs. Ray Rader will attend training school in Exeter. A euchre will be sponsored January 24. Mrs. Emil Becker in­ troduced the guest speaker Don Finkbiener who spoke on the changes in education through the years. This brought lots of discussion. He was thanked by Mrs. Eben Weigand who was one of his mother’s pupils and presented a gift. Mrs. Valentine Becker read from an old reader “Somebody’s Mother” Crafts made by members were on display. Bunco followed with winners Mrs. Mildred Kellerman and Eben Weigand. Low, Mrs. Letta Taylor and V.L. Becker. Lunch followed. Funeral Pallbearers Pallbearers for the late Mrs. Henry Eagleson whose funeral was held January 5 were six grandsons, Gary, Paul , Frank and John Eagleson and Eric and Tom Wolfe.
