In his inaugural message given at this week’s organizational meeting of the Board, Mr. Scott- reminded Trustees that much of the improved stan dard of living enjoyed by Canadians over the past few decades resulted from applying technological change, hard work, and basic self-discipline in the intelligent use of resources. He said that it has become apparent that resources aren’t limitless and that for the good, and in some cases the survival, of future generations, people must re emphasize the basic prin ciples employed by their parents and grandparents. Mr. Scott said that Canadians have been spen ding well beyond their means and well beyond the value that *they have been able to contribute in dividually and collectively to the economy. He said that the most effective way of reducing the inflation rate is by every Canadian un derstanding the seriousness of the economic situation and by their personal con tribution, input, coopera- tion, and support of measures designed to moderate expectations and expenditures. Among the goals for 1978 described by the new Chair man were: * workto ensure thatexisting and developing courses of study are of the highest possible quality for students. * achievement of an affor dable budget. * continued development of atmosphere within the school system and com munity that encourages par ticipation and constructive criticism. * evaluation of the Board’s new committee structure, development of Board positions on various major educational issues. Vice-Chairman of the Board last year, Mr. Scott has represented Lucan and the townships of Biddulph and McGillivray on the Middlesex County Board of Education since January 1975. iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinii ADAMS Heating & Cooling • Heating Systems of All Types INSTALLED, MODERNIZED and MAINTAINED I 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.$22 i i i i i i i n i SNOV BOOTS Misses Brown Vinyl By Kaufman (Narrow Fitting) Reg. $15.98 $999 Boys/Womens Imitation Wolf Or Goat Hair Waterproof Reg. $19.95 $12" Womens Assorted Styles In Vinyl Mostly 6 & 7 *6” Womens Fashion Boots Black Broken Sizes *12” Men's & Women's Blue Nylon Special $1299 Odds & Ends Women's Vinyl Mostly 6 & 7 $2” General Sheet Metal Work 10% OFF Snowmobile Boots And Felt Lined Styles 25% OFF All Women's Knee High Vinyls 20% OFF Men's & Women's Leather Boots ALL SALES FINAL NOT ALL SIZES IN ALL GROUPS Seniors meet Members of the Sunshine and Busy Buddies’ craft groups held their first meeting of the new year, Thursday afternoon in the Masonic Hall.
