Representing trie two groups were Wayne Reid and Ron Wareing. Hensall bantams split pair of games over break Hensall Bantams played an exhibition game against Seaforth last Tuesday, and tied 6-6. Scoring for Hensall in the first period were Brad Stewart, assisted by Jamie McClinchey and Ron Lavery assisted by Dave Consitt and Paul Smale. During the second period, Peter Bedard scored assisted by Jeff Sangster and Dennis McBride. In the third period Bedard scored, assisted by Jeff Rowe and McClinchey with Dennis McBride getting the final goal at the end of the evening for Hensall. Seaforth’s Mark McIlwain scored in the first period assisted by Bill McIver followed by Ron Hack scoring assisted by McIver and McIlwain. To complete the socre, Neil Johnson scored unassisted in the third period. On Thursday, Hensall Ban- thams played against Dublin and lost 74. Dublin scored three times in the first period taking the lead away from Hensall right from the start. Consitt scored the lone goal for Hensall in' this period assisted by McClinchey while John Barry and Mike Kelly both scored unassisted for Three goals were scored by Seaforth in the second period, McIlwain assisted by Bill McIver ringing the bell first while Hack followed assisted by McIlwain. Bill McIver scored assisted by McIlwain and Hack. Seaforth followed by Rob Lane. In the second period both sides scored once, McClinchey for Hensall assisted by Ron Lavery and Lane scoring unassisted for Seaforth. Hensall rallied in the third period, but not strongly enough. The second period saw two goals scored, the first by Jeff Rowe assisted by Dennis McBride and the other one by Jeff Sangster, assisted by Consitt and Bedard. Seaforth were in top form scoring four times, Lane, Kelly scoring unassisted and Mike Kelly completing the scoring assisted by Rob Lane. Penn said a greater number of children are in care presently than had been expected when the budget was struck. Case workers are busy, he said, handling about 36 cases each - the highest work ration in South Western Ontario and the fourth highest in Ontario. At present, about 170 family services are provided per month. There are 80 children in care. Penn expressed his disap­ pointment at the discontinuing of the Child Abuse program. He said that in 1976, six families were involved in the program. When the program was abandoned a year later, 32 families were in­ volved. In other business, council heard a report from Lynn Graham, program assistant for the Rural Development Outreach program which is* operated in Huron through the University of Guelph. Funds totalling $577,000 are provided by the Kellogg Foun­ dation for a four-year period - one year of which is just past/ About $40,000-has already been spent in Huron for such programs as children’s theatre in Wingham, a drainage project in Turnberry Township, a Mobility Club which is expected to be operating in Wingham by the summer of 1978, and plans for •Wingham museum as well as for the Wingham Centennial in 1979. Mr. Bill Hoy, who has been attending Conestoga College, Stratford, for the past one and a half years was successful in attaining his tickets for T.I.G. and all high pressure welding. Bill spent the .holidays with his parents Mr. & Mrs. Harry Hoy. He commenced work as a welder at Cleaver-Brooks, Manufac­ turing in Stratford on January 3. Mr. & Mrs. Michael Hoy, Aaron and Alyson of London spent the New Year’s weekend with their parents, Mr. & Mrs Harry Hoy. They also visited with Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Shaw in Exeter. Guests with Mr. & Mrs. Harry Hoy for New Year’s dinner were Mrs. Teresa Fletcher, Bill Hoy of Stratford and Mr. & Mrs. Michael Hoy, Aaron and Alyson of Lon­ don. Mrs. Laird Mickle, Mrs. Florence Joynt, and Charles Mickle spent a few days during the festive season visiting the former’s daughters and son; Mr. & Mrs. Brian Collins and family, Kitchener, Mr. & Mrs. Ross MacMillan and family, Waterloo, and Dr. Robert and Mrs. Mickle and son at Cambridge. Rev. Young of Goderich con­ ducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday delivering an inspiring New Years message on the text “What shall it provideth a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?” Miss Brenda Pepper presided at the organ. Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Morenz of Dashwood and Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Adams of Exeter were New Year’s Eve guests with Mr. &, Mrs. Jack Corbett. In addition to the activities of the Hensall and District Kinettes reported last week, Mrs. Cheri Bonthron was in charge of a children’s Christmas Party on December 15 at which there was a puppet show and a visit from Santa Claus, who distributed candy to all the children. U.C.W. meeting today The New Year’s Day service at the HensallUnited.Church was conducted by Rev. Don Beck with Mrs. John Turkheim at the organ. The subject of the sermon was “A blessed New Year”. The choir sang as an anthem an English carol, “Come all ye worthy gentlemen.” Unit four will be meeting on Thursday at 3:30 p.m." Next Sunday there will be an Installation of Officers of the U.CW. at both Hensall and Chiselhurst churches.
