WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD Some ninety people from Elimville and Thames Road attended the New Year’s party in the church basement Thursday evening. After a bountiful smorgasbord supper the rest of the evening was spent in dancing, visiting and playing games. The regular church service was held on Sunday morning with Mr. Ross Hargreaves in charge. The choir rendered an anthem ac­ companied by Miss Agnes Bray. Mr. Hargreaves had as his sermon “Today is the day.” Rev. Mr. & Mrs. Reg Hodgert, Mr. & Mrs. Ray Cann attended the funeral of their aunt'the late Mrs. James McCullough of Gravenhurst on Saturday. The sympathy of the community is extended to the relatives. Public health report completed Kim Ainslie’s report on his inquiry into public health related services and health planning in Huron County is completed and has been reviewed, by the executive committee of the county. Copies will now go to all county council members, department heads, county hospital representatives and hospital board chairmen and members of parliament. Ainslie was retained by council in May to prepare a brief to support passing legislation to provide that Huron County Council, rather than the board of health should .have legal responsibility for the Huron County Health Unit as well as the planning and co-ordination of health services in Huron. f is* % 1 ** ■? IRVIN RADER DASHWOOD Mr. & Mrs. Everett Haist of Dashwood celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary with a come and go- tea Friday, December 30, 1977, at Dashwood United Church. Many friends and relatives called to offer best wishes and congratulations. Many lovely cards, flowers and gifts were received. Special greetings from Prime Minister Trudeau, Premier Davis and other government officials were received. Mr. & Mrs. Haist were married December 22, 1917 in the Dash­ wood United Church manse. They made their first home near Crediton where they had a tile and brick business. They then operated bakery stores in Hensail and Zurich and spent several years in Detroit where Mr, Haist purchased an electrical store. Mr. Haist was also a gasoline and oil distributor in Dashwood and Exeter before moving to Dash­ wood where they now reside. They have one son, Stanley, Dashwood and one daughter Mrs. Frank (Eunice) Dutertre, Din­ smore, Saskatchewan, grandchildren and one grandchild.
