RENA CALDWELL KIPPEN Mrs. Dave Triebner, president, opened the Kippen East Women’s Institute with a “Smile” when they met at the home of Mrs. Wm McDowell, June 20. Plans were finalized for the Bean Festival in Zurich, August 25. Mrs. Alex McGregor, Mrs. Stewart Pepper, Mrs. Harry Cald­ well and Mrs. Jack Sinclair will work the early shift. Mrs. James Drummond conducted the program with readings and a contest. She introduced the guest speaker, the Dairy Princess for Huron County Jean Siertsema who spoke on her work, her schooling and her commitments as Dairy Princess. Miss Siertsema was thanked by Mrs. Campbell Eyre, who also gave a reading on “Eodd Prices.” Mrs. Robert Kinsman reported on the District Annual. An invitation to Exeter park by Elimville W.I. July 11 was accepted. Mrs. Triebner read an article by ElaineTownshend on “Signs” Roll call was answered by naming a product made with milk. Mrs. Stewart Pepper gave courtesy remarks and lunch was served by the hostesses and the committee in charge Mrs. James Chalmers and Mrs. Robert Bell. Winners of the contest were Ruby Triebner, Margaret Hoggarth and Mona Alderdice who tied for first place. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Taylor, Vancouver, B.C. called Mr. & Mrs. W.L. Meilis. Mrs. Taylor’s grandfather, Rev. Acheson preached in Kippen for 17 years. Mrs. Ed McBride, Mrs. Wayne McBride and Julie, Mrs. Flora Dowson holidayed in Florida recently. Mr. & Mrs. Alex McGregor are holidaying on St. Josephs Island and Sault Ste Marie.
