President, Mary Ravelle, presided. The meeting opened with all singing O Canada, The Senior citizen song and a collection of favorite numbers chosen by members, with Vera Kuntz as pianist. During the business Alex Hamilton was voted to go as a delegate to the U.S.C.O. Convention in Kingston in August. Members who are in­ terested are invited to go to Dashwood on evening of June 18 to watch a demon­ stration of carpet bowling. Plans were made to en­ tertain Zurich Senior citizens for supper and evening on June 26. In the social time several games of bingo were played. Lunch of sandwiches coffee and tea closed pleasant afternoon. . Couples club meets Fourteen members met Saturday night for a work meeting. Millie Desjardine sang a solo “Jesus, I love Rev. Edwin Wattam Catharines was speaker on baptism. The choir anthem was “I’ll tell the world that I’m, a Christian”. Ten people were baptized. Six from London and four from Grand Bend were Mr. & Mrs. Jim Rumball, Mrs. Marilyn MacGregor and Rufus Turnbull. At the closse of the service Mrs. Edwin Wattam sang, “The wonder of it all”. Personals Mrs. Loretta Williams of Port Huron visited a few days last week with Mrs. Susie Devine. Mrs. Jessie Finkbeiner, formerly of Shipka area, and resident of Grand Bend this past eleven years, Has sold her home here and moved to Welland to an apartment, where she will be near her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. & Mrs. C. B. Sanders. Clarke and Irene Kennedy, Don and Jean Weigand and Mary Lynn Hamilton at­ tended graduation ceremonies for James L. Kennedy at York University, Toronto, for his Honors B.Sc. in biology and psychology, Thursday, June 7. Alex and Clara Hamilton spent last weekend in Ottawa visiting their son and family Mr. & Mrs. Barry Hamilton and Debbie. Weekend guests with Mrs. Edna Woodburn were her cousins, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Coleman of Burlington. After the work session they gathered in the S.S. rooms, where Donna Lovie con­ ducted the business. Discussion was on the up­ coming lawn sale of odds and ends and baked goods, to be held at the church on July 7. Lunch refreshments were served. Couples in charge were Don and Jean Weigand, Fred and Marlene Desjardine, Larry and Donna Lovie. Library collecting tickets Lambton County library in Grand Bend are collecting used Wintario tickets for use in the half back program. Donations appreciated. Bridge winners Winners this week in the duplicate bridge game, held every Wednesday night at St. John’s Parish hall were north-south, Elsie and John Inglis east-west, Irene Ward and Lenore Orr. The bridge games will be continuing throughout the summer and any new players will be welcomed Grand Cove Socials Forty four residents of Grand Cove Estates, recently enjoyed a three day bus tour to Toleda Ohio. The hi-lite of the trip was seeing a live performance of “Fiddler on the roof” at the West Gate dinner theatre, and dinner on the 28th floor of the Tower. They also visited a museum, Hickory farm and two large shopping malls. They travelled by Sherwood bus lines of Goderich. A number of Cove people attended Huron Country Playhouse, Monte Carlo night. United Church news Rev. H. Moore’s sermon topic Sunday morning at the United Church was “Gate Crashers”. Scripture was the “Wedding Feast Parable”. The nursery school Mother’s are holding a bake sale at the Grand Bend United Church on June 16. Any donations from ladies of the church would be ap­ preciated and may be left at the Church between 7 Saturday morning. June 12 will be registration day at Grand Bend United Church for Nursery school for next year. Grand Bend United church and Sunday school picnic was held Sunday afternoon at Port Blake Conservation Park with about 50 at­ tending. Paula Taylor conducted sports and games. Due to the weather all gathered back in the S.S. rooms for their picnic supper. Grand Bend United Sunday School children were x joined by Greenway teachers and children, Sunday morning, and en­ joyed a puppet show. There were about 50 attending. Wl to have final meeting Women’s Institute members are reminded of their final meeting of the season on June 21. It will open with' a pot luck supper at 6.30 p.m. at the United Church S.S. rooms. Marj Martens, RR 1 Dashwood, Mary Warburton, Huron Park, and Martha Neeb, Zurich have been given the positions which are fully paid for by the province, The three girls will work for 14 weeks at the task, , which involves assigning a number to each artifact, and then typing a file card to hold all the pertinent information such as donor date, and condition. The students have been trained for their job by the province at a week-long seminar held at the University of Toronto. Last year, a similar team of students managed to number and type cards for over 3,000 items at the new museum. They were the most productive of over 40 such teams in Ontario. The museum has been open a little more than a year, and is located on high­ way 21 south of Grand Bend, near the Pinery Park. There are 12,000 items catalogued.
