HomeMy WebLinkAboutTimes-Advocate, 1979-06-13, Page 13Hugh Love Hugh Love, formerly of Hensall passed away at the Alexandra Marine General Hospital, Goderich on Sunday June 10, 1979 in his 92nd year. He was the beloved husband of the late Agnes Ann Jarrott and dear father of Earl, Hensall and Mrs. Percy (Emma) Campbell, Hensall brother of Mrs. Gertrude Moir, Hen­ sall. Also surviving are six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held from the Bonthron Funeral Home on Wednesday June 13th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Knight officiating. Interment in Baird’s Cemetery. The pallbearers are Messers Grant Webster, Jack MacGregor, Lome Love, Elmer Campbell, Ray Consitt, Glen Koehler. from the Bonthron Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 12 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Times-Advocate, June 13, 1979 About people you know Walker Carlile Walker C.H. Carlile Hensall passed away in South Huron Hospital, Exeter .on Saturday June 9, 1979 in his 71st year. He was the beloved husband of Elsie (Landsborough) Carlile and • father of William and Robert both of Hensall and Mrs. Glen (Elaine) Weido, R.R. 1 Zurich. Three sisters survive Mrs,Wes (Muriel) Richard­ son, Goderich; Mrs. James (Martha) Stokes, London; Mrs. Leeland (Ann) Willert, Zurich; three grandchildren and three great­ grandchildren also survive. Funeral service was held of Chiselhurst ladies meet The U.C.W. of Chiselhurst met on Tuesday with the President Mrs. J. Brintnell presiding and opened the meeting with a poem “If you have a garden.” The theme song and prayer followed. Mrs. Harold Parker con­ ducted the Worship seevice her topic being “The Shadow of a Man,” The roll call was answered with the continuous reading of a section of Scriptures. “Thank You” notes were read from the Parson family, The Men’s Mission in London, and Harold Parker. The ladies are holding a bake sale on Saturday June 16th at the Hensall Arena at 10.00 a.m. Plan to attend. It was announced the new study book for next year will be on Japan. Mr. & Mrs. Don Gooding and son Donald James of Strathroy were recent visitors with the former’s grandmother Mrs. Edgar Munn. Mrs. E.R. Davis returned home after spending a few days with relatives in London. Mrs. Brian Campbell is supplying at the Hensall Public Library in the ab­ sence of the Librarian Mrs. James Robinson. Mr. Rick Luther, London and Miss Susan Luther, Kitchener were recent visitors with their parents Mr. & Mrs. Eric Luther. Mr. & Mrs. Jeff Raeburn of London visited with their parents Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Slade and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Raeburn this week end. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker returned home after spen­ ding a week with their son-in- law and daughter Sgt. Doug Wein, R.C.M.P. Mrs. Wein and David in Ottawa. Mrs. Hazel Luther who has spent the past several months with her son-in-law and daughter Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Slade and her son and daughter-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Eric Luther left this.week for Halifax where she will visit with her son and daughter- in-law and family Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Luther prior to taking up residence at her home in Newfoundland. Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Taylor and Kari Lynn spent a few days visiting Sgt. Doug Wein R.C.M.P. and Mrs. Wein and David in Ottawa. The Hensall Ladies’ Legion Auxiliary met on Tuesday evening with the President Mrs. Beatrice Uyl presiding. During the meeting Mrs. Uyl presented Mrs. Vera Smale with a Life Membership. Mr. Penn, who is the Director at Goderich spoke of the new outlook on work- -ing with children, that is working with the entire family to try to prevent abuse of the child either physically or mentally. Tak­ ing children from their families is only used as a last resource nowadays. Counselling, educating parents, and Parent Aids are some of the measures used. Stephen Township has a Neighbourhood Resource Centre. Educating the public to be aware of and report cases of Child abuse is a big help and this reporting can be done anonymously. The Children’s and Family Services is governed by a Board of Directors and help received from foster parents, adoptions, financial drives, donations of good clothing, drivers and day trips organized by high school students. John Penn was introduced by Mrs. Earle Rowe and thanked by Mrs. James McAllister. Before the speaker, Mrs. Eric Luther and Mrs. Cliff Britton 'gave a beautiful duet, “The Garden of Prayer” accompanied by Mrs. Laird Mickle on the piano. After the speaker, Mrs. Laird Mickle favoured with a medley of Irish tunes again on the piano. The programme was chaired by Mrs. James McAllister. With the president, Mrs. Grace Drummond, in the chair the meeting opened with all repeating the Pur­ pose of the U.C.W. in unison. The next general meeting will be a potluck supper on October 1. Committee reports were given and it was decided to make a' donation to the Manse fund from the profits of the various projects. To close the evening an in­ spiring devotional was given by Mrs. Don Joynt on self- assertion and how it can be channeled, into compassion for others. Courtesy remarks were given by Mrs. Rodger Venner and Rev. McDonald closed with the Benediction.
