Matt Muller boots goal
to give tie to centennials
A goal by centre-forward
Matt Muller at 40 minutes
was the equalizer for Exeter
Centennials’ 1-1 draw with
West Williams, Sunday.
The clubs were playing in
Ausable district soccer at
Canner’s field.
With 15 minutes gone,
striker John Michielsen had
put West Williams one ahead
on a goal that came off a
scramble in front of the
Exeter net. That muddle was
about the only bad lapse by
the Centennials in the
opening half.
For most of the initial 45
minutes, Exeter played good
soccer. They had West
Williams going with a nice
build-up of attacks which
finally paid when left-winger
Brad Clausius relayed the
ball across the visitor’s net
for Muller’s score.
A sudden storm of. rain and
wind delayed the game at 20
minutes of the second half,
and the pause had its affect
on the rhythm of both sides.
But shortly after the
game’s resumption, West
Williams got and held most
of the edge. They missed
going ahead on several
chances, and Exeter missed
on two.
Exeter’s tries were on a
shot by Dick Lord that just
skipped the net, and on one
by Brad Clausius that landed
top
■>
and bounced at the
corner of the West Williams'
goal in the final minutes.
The Centennials play away
at Forest in a 2 p.m. game
Sunday, prior to mid-season
tournament play. League
play resumes on July 15,
with Exeter at Nairn at 6
p.m.
Fastball team
name changed
The name of the Huron
Park fastball team in the
Southwestern Fastball
Association has been
changed to Exeter Saveway.
The club will be sponsored
by Saveway Lumber of
Exeter and all home games
will be played at Exeter
Community Park.
In their first start under
the new identification the
club lost a 3-1 decision to the
league leading Lieury team.
The Saveway team was in
Sylvan last night, and will be
playing host to Poplar Hill
tomorrow night, Thursday at
the Exeter diamond. Game
time is 9 p.m.
In Thursday’s contest,
Lieury jumped ahead with a
run in the first inning as Bob
Cornish walked and crossed
the plate on a triple from the
bat of Glen Thompson.
Lieury moved ahead 2-0 in
the second frame. Gord
Mauer singled and scored on
a passed ball.
The only Exeter marker
came in the bottom of the
fourth as Brion Penhale
slugged an inside the park
home run.
The final Lieury score
came in the top of the

together with service connections from the main watermain to the lot lines.
It is proposed to raise the necessary annual revenue for the services provided from
the Provincial water works as follows: a frontage rate of 30 cents per foot per annum
for 40 years on all lands which front on or abut on, or connect to the watermains
described above; a connection charge of $15.00 per annum for 40 years on owners
or occupants of lands for which a water service connection to the main is provided. In
addition to the above, and only after connection has been made to the water works
system, a flat water service rate of $92.00 per annum against each user in respect of
such lands which are used for purposes other than commercial or industrial purposes,
and a water consumption rate of $1.10 per 1000 gallons of metered water with a
minimum charge of $11.00 per month against each user in respect of such lands
which are used for commercial or industrial purposes.
In computing the frontage charges, provision shall be made for the exemption or
partial exemption from a foot frontage rate and for the determination of such ex
emption or partial exemption in the following manner:
a) A reduction in the case of corner lots at the junction or intersection of
streets of 100% of the flankage and a reduction or increase in the case of
triangular or irregulary-shaped lots may be made in the foot frontage rate
that otherwise would be chargeable thereon, sufficient, having regard to the
situation, value and superficial area of such lots as compared with other lots,
to adjust its frontage charge on a fair and equitable basis.
b) Where a lot is for any reason wholly or in part unfit for building purposes,
a reduction may be made in the foot frontage rate that otherwise would be
chargeable thereon sufficient to adjust its frontage charge as compared with
that of lots fit for building purposes on a fair and equitable basis.
c) Where a lot, other than a corner lot, has two limits that abut on streets
described above and the size and nature of the lot is>such that any or all of
the works in such streets are not required, a reduction in respect of the works
that are not required, so long as they are not required, may also be made in
the foot frontage rate that would otherwise be chargeable thereon, sufficient
to adjust its frontage charge on a fair and equitable basis.
d) The reduction shall be made by deducting from the total frontage of the
lot liable to the annual foot frontage1 rate so much thereof as is sufficient to
make the proper reduction, but the whole of the lot shall be charged with the
annual foot frontage charge as so reduced.
On the basis of these levies, a home connected to the water works, and having a lot
frontage of 66 feet, would pay the following amounts annually after connection has
been made to the proposed water works:
