About 500 delegates representing 90,000 mem­ bers of the 400 United church congregations in the nine- county areas of Huron, Perth, Oxford, Elgin, Middlesex, Lambton, Kent, Essex and Algoma, at­ tended. Speaking, Wednesday, Hugh McCullum, staff co­ ordinator of the inter-church Project North, told representatives at Con­ ference that native people’s have been Canada’s perennial losers and victims. Four young men, all A students of Emmanuel College, Toronto, were or­ dained to the ministry of words, sacrament and pastoral care. Two young women were commissioned to the order of ministry. One minister transferred from the Disciples of Christ to United Church ministry. Church of God news A special children’s day was observed Sunday morning at Church of God. Kim MacGregor read a poem, “A child's appeal,” Lori Vincent was pianist during the service, offering was collected by Chris MacGregor and Mike Vin­ cent and Douglas Campbell sang a solo. “God loves to talk to little boys when they're fishin’.’’ Rev. J. Campbell’s sermon topic was, ‘‘The gift that children give to us”. He also had an object lesson story* with a lamp for children’and pic­ ture story for pre-schoolers. Travel to museum Grand church, children, Lambton museum, and held their Sunday school in the Mary Ellen Chapel. A hymn sing featured “I've got the joy”, “Zaacheus” and ‘‘So let the sun shine in.” A sermon topic was given by Mrs. Helen Sturdevant. The Mary Ellen Chapel is a replica of the ■ old Presbyterian church and was part of the Eisenbach Museum at Grand Bend before it was moved. There are four memorial windows in the chapel, one for Mr. Eisenbach’s wife, his mother, his mother-in-law and for Rev. S. A. Carriere. The windows were dedicated on October 12, 1964. The interior church furn- tirue, such as altar, pews and organ, came from area churches. The name “Mary Ellen” was chosen to honour Mr., Eisenbach’s mother and mother-in-law. Personals Mrs. Rosie Grigg visited Saturday in Parkhill with her friend, Mrs. Emma Rowland. Mrs. Raymond Kading visited on the weekend at her brother’s, Mr. & Mrs. Keith McLaren in Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Wilkinson who have recently im­ migrated to Canada from England have bought the home of the late Ezra Webb in Green Acres. Mrs. Mary Ferguson of Victoria, B.C., is holidaying at the McGregor home in Green Acres. Her mother Mrs. Myrtle McGregor of Bend United Sunday school travelled to County Heritage Sunday morning Ailsa Craig Rest Home spent the weekend here with her. - Arlene Johnson and Rita Barrhead from Alberta Bible Institute in Camrose, Alberta, were overnight guests with Mrs. Rosie Grigg. Mr. & McVittie, Lawrence visited Sunday with her parents Mr.& Mrs.Law'rence Johnson and attended the Roger Quick jamboree held at West Williams Park. Karen McArthur of Port Elgin who holidayed last week with her Johnson grandparents returned home wdth her Aunt Neva Uncle Dune. She was appointed by the Division of World Outreach of the United Church of Canada to serve in Kenya in a similar capacity?. She has recently returned from her assignment,. Herpresentationwas in the form of a question and an­ swer period of her time in Kenya. Leading the sendee of worship on behalf of the U.C.W. were Eleanor Dorie and Beulah Holt. An all ladies choir sang the anthem “Reach out and touch”, with Idella Gabel at the organ and Irene Kennedy at piano. There will be a United Church and Sunday school picnic held next Sunday.
