McDonald is the new minister for Hensall United Church. Prior to assuming the Hensall charge two weeks ago, Reverend McDonald served the Londesborough Pastoral Charge near Clinton for nine years. Circle evening auxiliary and associate members were guests. President Mrs. Harvey Hyde opened the meeting with a poem and welcomed everyone to the anniversary. Mrs. Kenneth Knight had charge of the devotional and gave an interesting message from Biblical passages in keeping with the ‘theme “International Year of the Child”. An orchestra comprised of Mrs. Paul Schenk, piano; Mrs. Margaret Clark, violin; and Harvey Smith, guitar, was really enjoyed. Mervyn Tieman gave a reading “It couldn’t be done.” Kim Kipfer, playing guitar and Michele Vandeworp sang several numbers including one Kim had written “Days Gone By,” Mrs. Paul Schenk played a piano solo. Larry Schenk and Leanne Stewart sang a duet. Mrs. Tieman gave a reading, “What man is.” Charles Martene dealt with the business. The Seniors will entertain at the Blue Water Rest Home for the birthday party June 19. Lloyd Rader’s group will be in charge of the June meeting June 18 which is a 6 o’clock picnic followed by a demonstration of carpet bowling. Cards and lunch followed.
