Receiving at the door were Becky Brewster, wife of Rev. Ray Brewster and Myrtle Davies, branch director. Guests registered with Geri Fletcher and Debbie Brewster, wife of Rick Brewster, assistant pastor and proceeding to the lower floor, were served punch by Barbara Sloetjes and Annelies Butler. Places were found by comparing the scripture on the nametag with that on the tables, which was novel way of mixing guests up so they would meet new friends. June Henry, president, welcomed everyone, opening the meeting with a chorus and prayer, with Lorraine Armitage at the piano. Judith Henry led in singing several choruses and taught the sign language for “Jesus Loves Me,” as she uses it at the Robarts School for the Hearing Handicapped. The new singing group, “Praise Song” led by Rick Bewster sang a lovely number “Praises” which was most appropriate with their name. “Tole Painting” a lovely, very old craft, was demonstrated by Gail Griven and Janice Graham and Janice Wallace gave a meditation comparing the change in an old tin dustpan by the tole painting, into a beautiful piece of art, to the change in the lives of people as they follow the example of Jesus. This is done by complete submission to God and by following his pattern for us. As the shading and contrast in the tole makes it beautiful so a ray of sunshine comes from God on our darkest days and we can all be transformed as we follow His design for our lives. Weather slows Bible walkathon The weather must have frightened off a number of walkers for the Bible Society Walkathon, as only 41 children and young people, - compared to 60 last year, showed up for the nine mile ! jaunt around the lovely ’ countryside on Saturday j morning, with one senior citizen doing the seniors’ r walk. ! Apples and hot dogs were ' served upon returning to the Church, by Chairman Jim Robertson and the Bible Society District Secretary for Western Ontario, Rev. D.L. Howlett. If you were missed and would like to make a con tribution toward an Eskimo translation of the Bible, please send your donation to Mrs. Sheridan Revington, the branch treasurer, or to Mr. Robertson. and an hour of in different return to the Good character, like good soup, is usually homemade.
