Grand Bend during April.

Mary Margaret Murphy,
Goderich, will take on the
role of 9 year old Brigitta;
from Grand Bend, Jennifer
McCrindle will play 7 year
old Marta; 5 year old Gretl
will be played by Myvonney
Godwin from Parkhill.
Yet to be announced is the
eldest Von Trapp girl, 16
year old Liesl.
Murphy said, “It was a
difficult decision to reach
since so many of the
youngsters are talented. I
think we have succeeded in
getting together six talented
boys and girls who can pass
as a family. I’m looking
forward to working with
these bright young people.
“Performing is,” he
emphasized to the young
people, “a great deal of work
— 10 percent inspiration and
90 percent perspiration — as
the saying goes. I hope the
other children who also
auditioned but who did not
get parts will not be
discouraged. International
Year of the Child seems the
appropriate time to produce
a show with opportunities for
children”, he said.
The Sound of Music goes
into rehearsal on August 6. It
opens on August 22 and runs
through September 1 at the
Playhouse in Grand Bend.
