The highlight of the week
was the Clarke Family
Sunday. The service
arranged by United Church
Women was held in the
United Church Sunday af
ternoon when those in at
tendance had the pleasure of
renewing friendships with
the Rev. John T. Clarke, a
former minister, and
members of is family.
Taking part in the service
were Rev. Ewart Clarke,
Toronto; Miss Florence
Clarke, St. Thomas; Mrs.
George Wodskou and Rev.
John T. Clarke. Hagersville;
Rev. Frances Clarke,
London; Mr. & Mrs. Don
Peterson and son, Sarnia.
Rev. Frances Clarke
assistant minister at
Metropolitan United Church
in London delivered an in
spiring sermon on the
subject “Rooted and
Grounded in Love’’. Today
we celebrate the past and the
present. We are members of
one body — the body of
Christ — and deep roots are
an essential part in a
growing faith.

The roots grow deep into
the soil and bring up nourish
ment to produce new growth.
A tree is cut down but the
stump remains to send up
new shoots. Jesus, in his min
istry, talked about tiny seeds
growing into big trees.
He was establishing His1"
own kingdom grounded in
God’s love. The life of faith
continues because it is
rooted and grounded with
love.
The choir sang an anthem
and a solo was sung by Mrs.
Ray Mills. Musical numbers
were provided by Mr. & Mrs.
Don Peterson and son. There
was organ and piano music
by Mr. Gill and Mary Lou
Tasko.
The church was decorated
with spring flowers. The
fellowship continued during
the social hour in the church
schoolrooms following the
service.
At the service in the United
Church on Sunday questions
dealt with by Mr. Paul Schott
were Who are you? Where
are you goingfc and to whom
do you belong?
Righteousness, Godliness
and Faith are driving forces
in the life of a Christian. The
children’s story was told by
Mr. Schott and the choir
sang an anthem.
