What progress are we making to ihake our homes more Christian, as a Mother, Father, son or daughter? T-A photo still .................... . ap preciates the sweat and blood and anxious hours that your father and mother and grandparents expended to win and lay the foundation of our nation? There are many who are a disgrace to their honest hard-working fore-fathers and who are trying in every way, to tear down what those fore-fathers so. laboriously built. The “Sudbury Life” recently published an article in the interests of better community living under the heading “I am a sick Canadian” and I believe it reveals a lot of truth. It says in part: “There are those who claim that ours is a ‘sick society’; that our Country is sick; that we are sick. Well maybe they are right. I submit that I am sick and maybe you are sick too.” I am sick of having policeman ridiculed as “pigs” while cop killers are hailed as some kind of folk heroes. I am sick of being told that religion is only an opiate of the people that marriage is no longer necessary, that if two people are in agreement nothing else matters. I am sick of comments of columnists canonizing anarchists, revolutionaries and criminals, but con demning law enforcement when such criminals are brought to justice. I am sick of our entire justice system whose sen tences make a farce of the justice they are paid to uphold and turn criminals loose on an already disgusted society, while at the same time passing other decisions designed to take away every means I have of protecting my home and family. I am sick of pot-smoking entertainers deluging me with their condemnation of my moral standards on late night television. I am sick of being told that policemen are mad dogs, who should not be allowed to carry guns - but that criminals who use guns and knives to rob, maim and murder innocent, productive people should be understood and helped back to society. I am sick of not being able to take my family to a movie, unless I want them exposed to nudity, homosexuality and the glorification of narcotics. I am sick' of hearing the same slick slogans - the cries of people, who chant the same things like zombies - because they haven’t the capacity for verbalizing thought. I am sick of riots, mar ches, protests, demon strations, confrontations and other mob temper tantrums of people intellectually in capable of working within a system. I am sick of the cynical attitude towards patriotism of politicians with little backbone of permissiveness of the dirty - the foulmouthed the unwashed. I am especially sick of the decline of personal honesty, personal integrity and human sincerity. Most of all though, I am sick of being told that I am sick. I’m sick of being told that my country is sick, that it owes the unwashed and the loafer a living; when we have, in truth, the greatest nation that man has ever brought forth, on the face of the earth. that and Fully 50 percent of all people on earth would willingly trade places with the most deprived and most underprivileged among us. Yes, I may be sick, but if I am only sick, I can get well and help my country get well. Take note, all of you, you will not find me throwing rocks, or bombs, you will not find me under a derrogatory placard, you willnot see me take to the streets ranting obscencties with wild eyed mobs. But you will find me at work, which proved so enriching and rewarding to my parents and forefathers, paying taxes, supporting religion, service in the community where I live and exhorting elected officials to stand firm against lawlessness. I will be speaking in support of those officials institutions and personalities who contribute to the elevation of society. You will find me sup porting churches, hospitals, charities and other establishments, which have shown the true spirit of this country’s determination to ease pain and suffering to eliminate disease and filth and to generate brotherhood and prosperity. To accomplish this, we must all get out and vote. It is here that you hear the thunder of thecommon man. It is appalling that almost 50 percent of our people are too careless or too indifferent to use what is one of Canada’s greatest gifts - the right to vote as they see fit.
