We welcome them as members. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Barry E, Miller on the birth of their daughter, Wednesday. Mr. Ross Hargreaves attended a rural life con­ ference at Guelph last week. Mrs, Hargreaves spent a few days with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Lome Hansford of London. Tammy and Michael Richardson, Woodham spent the weekend with their uncle and aunt Mr. & Mrs. Don Richardson. Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Jeffery, Connie and Alan, Mrs. Hazel Jeffery and Mrs. Mary Thomson had dinner Sunday at the Burkley Restaurant, Exeter. Karen Rohde, Exeter spent the weekend with her grandparents Mr. & Mrs, William Rohde. Mr, & Mrs. Terry Heeney, principal of Dutton Public School, called on his cousins Mr. & Mrs. Ross Hargreaves Sunday while on the Sun Pikers Tour. On the tour the Donnelly farm was visited, the Thames Road Cemetery, and also the Gardiner grove, the Country Spire, etc. Quite a number from this community called at the Hopper-Hockey Funeral Home, Exeter, Sunday, where the late Jeana Elliott lay at rest. Funeral conducted for Shipka woman By MRS. HUGH MORENZ SHIPKA Sympathy of this com­ munity is extended to Jerry Arnold and family in the sudden accidental death of a loving wife and mother, Marjorie Arnold, on May 7th, 1979. ’The body rested at M. Box and Son Funeral home, Parkhill, then to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Mt. Carmel, where mass was held at 10 a.m, with Father Mooney officiating. Inter­ ment was in Sacred Heart Union Cemetery, Parkhill. Pallbearers were George Gallant, Cliff Russell, Gene Creces, Bill Amos, Russell Desjardine and Bill Berry. The Arnold family had lived in Shipka for many years, just moving a year ago to Mount Carmel, AFTER THE TUMBLE — Showing no ill effects from their tum­ ble, Jack and Jill stayed on stage at the EPS junior class program to recite several of the Mother Goose rhymes, which were enacted by other young performers. Mr. & Mrs. Otto Plein and Christopher of Elmira, spent a few days last week with her parents here, Mr. & Mrs. Ferman Snyder. Mr. & Mrs.Howard Adkins and James of Zurich, Jeffery Wareing of Kippen were Sunday guests with Gloria Harvey and Kevin Beierling, to celebrate Mother’s Day and Harvey’s birthday. Jack and Bev’s little daughter Sherri is a patient in South Huron hospital with pneumonia. Mr. & Mrs. Earl Baker, St. Thomas visited Friday with his brother, Mr. Baker. Morenz was on duty Sunday at the Benmiller restaurant where she is employed, Nancy Baker, Kitchener, Donna Baker, Sarnia, spent the week end at their parents home here. Viola Lewis had charge of the meeting opening it by reading John 8 followed by prayer. Hymn “Savior like a Shepherd lead us” was sung. The scripture reading was read by Mrs. Dyck. Mrs. Marjorie Steeper gave two readings “A Toast to Mother” and “Home.” followed by a “Mother’s Day” story and a poem “Mothers’ Crown” by Miss Viola Lewis. Mrs. Jack Hodgson showed the poster on “International Year of a Child” and also the name tags that she had made for the Regional to be held in Clandeboye United Church on May 14. Some plans were made for the Chicken Barbecue in July. A parting gift was presented to Mrs. Wes. Watson during the meeting. Personate Bill and Kathy Prest and Jackie and Wayne Hind­ marsh were to Niagara Falls for a few days. Kim Amos passed her test in figure skating at the Ilderton Arena on Sunday.
