Spring is a busy time for
everyone and so it is at the
Lucan and District Coop
Nursery School. The nice
weather makes field trips
easier and the children
walked to the Lucan fire hall
for a visit.
They have also been on a
bus trip to the Lucan
Regional Children’s Museum
and a nature walk around
Lucan. A ‘'Picnic in the
Park” is planned for June as
the year-end bash with the
Stratford Senior Citizens
Band and a Puppet show to
entertain the children.
The election of new of
ficers for 1979-1980 was held
at the May 2 general
meeting. The new offficers
are: President - Janis
Latta; Vice-President - Lynn
Heckman; Secretary -
Harolyn Sires; Treasurer -
Sandy McKaig.
Congratulations!
Registrations for Sep
tember are now being ac
cepted. Please telephone 227-
4059 for further information.
As our main fundraising
event of the year we are
holding a dance at the Lucan
arena, Friday, May 11. Last
year’s dance was very
successful and we have put
an extra effort into it this
year to make it even better.
Joe Overholt and the
Standbys will be playing
from 9-11, and a hearty lunch
is provided. Please call 227-
4905 for further information
and tickets. Proceeds to aid
operation of the school.

Seniors Entertain
Seven members of
Lucan Senior Citizen Sun
shine and Busy Buddies
Groups visited the Lucan
and District Co-Operative
Nursery Scho.ol, Monday
morning, May 7 to entertain
the children with some old
time music and nursery
rhymes.
Dora Thompson was at the
piano, Clarence Lewis
played his violin, Ethel
Lewis the washboard, Muriel
Cobleigh on the cymbals (2
stainless steel lids) Mildred
Hertzel the spoons, Mary
Kooy the kazoo and Iva
Hodgins the jewsharp. Each
member introduced herself
and himself and the in
strument being used.
The children, their
teacher, Mary Lou Allenson,
and the mothers on duty,
sang along with the “band!”
attend classes occasionally
to help Miss Allenson, our
teacher. This is an ad
vantage over most nursery
schools as it gives the
parents more opportunity to
see the development of their
child and assist in the
operation of the school.
The school is only as good
as the input from the
parents, As a “C

Participating Schools for
London and District. The
Association consists of 22
London and area schools,
representing 950 families in
the community.
The Association is a
member of the committee of
councils of Parent Par

which in turn has in
ternational affiliations.
The A.P.P.S.L.D. helps to
compile, and dispense ideas
from all these people to help
the nursery schools in the
administration and
operation of the co-operative
ideals.
This year the association
has asked us to host a mini
workshop at our school,
Wednesday May 16, at 8:00
at Lucan United Church.
Workshop topics will in
clude fundraising, publicity
and newsletters, public
relations implications of the
registrar’s job; and con
ducting worthwhile parent
meetings and field trips.
This is an excellent op
portunity for us to show off
our Nursery School as we are
very proud of our large and
well equipped facilities.
We would like to extend an
invitation to everyone in the
community to visit the
school and take advantage of
this opportunity to see the
work and dedication that
goes on behind the Co
operative schools in Canada.
Help us celebrate the year of
the Child in Lucan.

to all riders and sponsors.
Riders are urged to collect
their pledges as soon as
