Tickets are now on sale for a 50-50 draw which will be made on Monday, April 30 at the Calorie Counters weekly meeting. Another meeting will Resource Wednesday, April 25, at 7.30 p.m. Any parents or teens who are interested in discussing parenting problems are welcome to attend the meeting. John Penn of Family and Cnildren’s Services will be leading the discussion. Open House is being held this Wednesday April 25 at the McCurdy School. The Stephen Co-op Nursery School will be open to anyone who would like to view the art work of some very busy young pre-schoolers. A community seminar on “Child Abuse” will be held at Exeter Public School, Thursday, April 26, frotn 8:00-9.30 p.m, A professional panel will be leading the discussion and a film presentation entitled “A sday (April 26th). In case of Chain to be Broken” will be rain, meet at the Resource shown. Registration will be held for girls softball at the Resource Centre, Saturday, April 28, between 10 a.m. and 12 noon. Any girls between the ages of 9 and 20 who are interested in playing softball this summer are to be registered. No fee. If enough interest is shown and enough helpers are obtained for each age group, there may be two or three girls teams in the park this summer. “Please parents, we are in need of more helpers for these teams.” Any girls 15-20 interested in playing softball should come to the ball diamond (by the soccer field) /or a practice at 6:30 this' Thur- i Centre. NG Shirley Cooper presided and was assisted by VG Margaret Cook who also gave the sick and shut-ins report. Mrs. Mary Hern gave the report of the District meeting and stated Mrs. Jean Henderson, Clinton will be the in-coming District Deputy for district 23. Lodge church services were announced as follows, Exeter Odd Fellows and Rebekahs at Centralia, April 29; District service in Clinton at Wesley Willis May 6. Huronic Lodge, Clinton will hold a dessert euchre and bake sale May 2. Brothers night will be May 16. The Lodge is planning a bus trip in the near future and also making plans for then birthday party the first Wednesday in June when another Lodge will be guests. Swineclub The second meeting of the Kirkton Swine Club was held at David Blackler’s. leader Keith Selves discussed parts of the pig and a quiz was given on this topic. Different breeds and cross-breeds were explained and leader Bob Stephens helped with a quiz which followed. Centralia College was the location of the next meeting. Vice-president Dale Robinson opened the meeting. Doug Jamieson explained the different courses at the Collage. He then discussed pig selection. Members were shown some abnormalities in pigs and how crossbreeding improved pigs. Edward Willis thanked Mr. Jamieson. Kirkton Forestry The fifth meeting of the Kirkton Forestry Club was held April 5 at the K-W Community Centre. Club leader Bill Arthur reviewed the progress of the display and our record books. Trips were discussed and planned to go to Otis Sawyer’s woodlot and Stafford Johnson’s tree plantation. Club leader Cor Blanken explained this meetings lesson on shelters and windbreaks on the farm.
