WILLIAM ROHDE On Palm Sunday Mr. Ross Hargreaves sang the Stranger of Galilee with the choir assisting which was much enjoyed at the Thames Road United Church. A good crowd attended the Good Friday evening church service at Elimville. Rev. Bert Daynard of Staffa was in charge of the communion service. Pastor Ross Hargreaves had as his sermon Yes Jesus Loves Me. Sunday morning the Young People had an Easter Sunrise Service and break­ fast in the church. At the church service Sunday morning the choir led in the opening processional Hymn, Christ the Lord is Risen Today, Mr. Ross Hargreaves told the children a story and his sermon was The Emmaus Walk. The choir rendered two anthems accompanied by the organist Miss Agnes Bray. The U.C.W. had purchased two Easter lilies which adorned the front of the church. Fellowship meets A good crowd attended the Fellowship Group meeting Sunday evening in the church basement. Mr. Ross Hargreaves opened the worship service with a sing song with Mrs. Phil Johns at the piano. Mrs. Ross Skinner was in charge of the worship service. Mrs. Skinner gave two Easter readings What Is Easter? and Easter Is Hope. Mrs. Howard Pym and Mr. Ross Hargreaves sang a duet Whispering Hope which was much enjoyed. Mrs. Skinner gave another reading Easter Is a Glorious Time and also led in prayer. Several brought slides and Howard Pym showed them and also slides of their recent trip to Colorado. Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Cann and Mr. & Mrs. Jack Stewart looked after the lunch of tea biscuits and jam, tea and coffee. This is the last meeting until fall. A bus trip is being planned. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne were Thursday evening supper guests with Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde. Mr. & Mrs. Ray Cottle, Mrs. Isobelle Cann, Mrs. Mary Hodgert, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Rowe, Mr. & Mrs. William Snow of Exeter, Mr, & Mrs.Alvin Passmore were Wednesday evening supper guests with Mr. & Mrs. Reg Hodgert. Mr. & Mrs. Ken Brazier and Cathy, Brantford were Good Friday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Passmore. Lloyd Ballantyne attended Good Friday morning church service at Thamesford United Church and were guests later with Mr. & Mrs. Donald Ballantyne and family. Mrs. Helen Caswell, London spent the week end with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Passmore. Master Darren Tinney of Exeter spent the week end with his cousin Alan Hodgert. Misses Barbara Miller and friend Mary Lane, Guelph spent the week end with Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Miller. Craig Alexander, Brad Cann, Ridgetown Laurel Hodgert, St. Catharines, Elaine Stewart, London, Sandra Stewart, Barrie, Murray Stewart, and Sylvia Stewart, Waterloo spent the holiday week end at their respective homes here. HUGH MORENZ SHIPKA Doris Sweitzer, Mabel and Karen Guenther and Annie Morenz, from this area, attended the Easter Ecumenical service, Monday night at Grand Bend United • church. Karen took part in the program, playing a duet, with her at piano and Evelyn Curts of Greenway on the organ. They played “Bless this house’’ and “Jesus I come.” Jim and Sandra Campbell. Kim and Kelly, of Exeter, were Friday night supper guests with the little girls grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Milton Sweitzer. Week end guests with the Sweitzers were Mr. & Mrs. Garson Brady, of Welland. Oscar Miller and Hugh Morenz visited Thursday afternoon, with Ervin Devine at St. Joseph’s hospital, London. Mr. & Mrs. Tom Russell, Jacquie and Jenny, visited a day last week with Rosan- ne’s parents, Mr. & Mrs. Michael Schiebel, at Belle River. Mr. & Mrs. Ted Leadly, Welland spent the week end with Mrs. Doris Sweitzer. Mrs. Henry Becker and Mrs. Hugh Morenz, attended a bridal shower for the former’s granddaughter, Marilyn Pfaff, of Crediton, Monday evening at the Dashwood Community centre. Marilyn is bride elect later this month. Mrs. Blanche Chapman, London, visited relatives on the week end here, also in Hensall and Exeter with her sisters. Easter Sunday dinner guests with Harvey, Gloria and Kevin Beierling were Gloria’s parents and brother, Mr. & Mrs. Howard Adkins and James, her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Henry Adkins, a cousin Jeff Wareing, an aunt Mrs. Margaret Hess, all of Zurich, and an uncle Jack Adkins of Tiverton. Also attending were Harvey’s mother, Mrs. Thelma Beierling and his sister Freida Beierling.
