The final session of
"Learning for Lent” con
cluded Wednesday morning
with four interest groups,
"Advanced Hairpin Lace”
with Rachel Tuke, Beginners
with Muriel Cobleigh and
Edythe Murdy, "Additives in
Your Diet” with Dorothy
Anderson of London
Cathedral Glass Craft
Iva Hodgins.
Following "coffee
conversation, Ann Elliott
concluded her very inspiring
series on “Invitation to
Live”. "If we have missed
Jesus Christ, we have
missed the whole plan of
God”, said Mrs. Elliott.
"But it is not until God
begins to deal with us per
sonally that we see our need
of Him.”
By His death on the Cross,
and
with
and
Christ took the punishment
for the sins of mankind from
the beginning of time, and
His sacrifice frees us from
sins power and from' the
sense of guilt, enabling us to
live in a way pleasing to God.
It brings us the joy of
oneness with God and with
other people.
Our part is to agree with
God’s verdict on sin, and to
let Him deal with it in our
lives. Having once taken this
step, we must remain open to
God’s voice through Bible
reading and prayer, and
continue to obey and trust
Him day by day. As long as
we walk closely with Him,
remembering that He is in
control, He continues to give
us the power to live vic
toriously regardless of
circumstances.

Easter service
at United Church
Easter Sunday, speaking
from 1 Corinthians 15 on the
subject "Christ is Risen!”,
Rev. Keith Brown told his
large congregation that the
Resurrection is far more
than an historic event. Early
Christians recognized it as
the most important day in
the Christian calendar and
changed their day of worship
from the 7th, to the 1st day of
the week. Their greeting on
this day was “Christ is
risen” and the reply, "He is
risen indeed.”
Jesus revealed to the three
women that He was really
alive and they acted in
obedience to the words of
Jesus running to tell His
friends the joyful news.
Their sadness had turned
into joy and this can be our
experience if we belive God’s
word and act upon it in faith.
He calls us to this kind of life.
The choir sang two
beautiful anthems “King All
Glorious” with Linda Froats
singing the solo part, and
"The Halleluia Chorus.” The
Junior Congregation enjoyed
an Easter story in puppetry
by Dorothey Dedels. Mrs.
Dedels had also made a
rabbit finger puppet for each
child and a little bag of
"goodies.”
1 Marie Dewan, RR 3, Lucan,
left County road 47 in Bid-
dulph township and rolled
> over. Constable N. A.
i Campbell estimated
damages at $1,400.
' Damages were listed at
; $4,500 when vehicles driven
' by Ronald Shepstone,
' Strathroy and Alfred Biley,
RR 1, Denfield were in
collision on County road 22 at
lp.m. Tuesday. Constable D.
R. Vance was the in
vestigating officer.
Vehicles driven by Gloria
Urbshott, RR 1, Ilderton, and
Aaron Chase, RR 2, Ilderton,
collided at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday
on County road 16. Constable
J. Frank set damages at
$2,550.
Meet for
Good Friday
Members of Lucan United
Church remembered the
most sacred season of the
Christian Church as they
worshipped on Good Friday
evening at 7 p.m.
Rev. Keith Brown
speaking from Matthew 27
dealt with the question of
Pilate "What Shall I Do With
Jesus?” This was done by
answering three questions
"What have I done, What am
I doing and what will I do?”
and he concluded
meditation by singing
beautiful solo "What
You Do With Jesus.”
