Founded in 1911, Drysdale’s started out as a partnership with Bonthron funeral home and furniture store. That partnership continued until 1946 when the firms were separated. For the past several years, Drysdale’s has been operated by Jack and Bob Drysdale, natives of Hensall. They joined the Crest Hardware chain in 1963 and then moved over to Home Hardware in 1970. They have taken up temporary residence in the store just east of the Bon- thron funeral home and plan to start construction of a new building across the street from that location. New owners of the hard­ ware store are Bill and Linda Smith and Lester and Evelyn Brubacher from the Monkton area. Bill Smith was raised near Monkton and has worked for both the Canadian Bank of Commerce and Beaver Lumber. For the past nine years he has been employed by a recreational vehicle manufacturer. His wife is a native of Thunder Bay and they have three children: Debra, 17; Michael 14 and Joey, 9. They are residing on a farm near Hensall. ‘ Lester Brubacher was raised on a farm near Elmira and has been in the carpentry business. His wife grew up outisde Zurich and is the daughter of Asa and Lillian Steckle of Zurich. Bob and Jack Drysdale were educated in Hensall and reside in the community. Bob is a Shriner, while Jack is a member of the K-40 and a former president of the Hensall Kinsmen. Mrs. Ella Drysdale has also been active in the firm since its beginning, being in charge of the china depart­ ment. She retired from the business a few years ago. The store was formerly owned by Bob and Jack Drysdale and was one of the oldest family-owned businesses in the v’^a9e- Huron Expositor photo I RKJL Sir ■l* * ■■ ■■ Hensail women use love as theme for Easter event Love was the theme of the Easter meeting of Unit one of the Hensall United Church, held in the church parlour on April 12 at 2 p.m. Mrs. Julene Keys, who presided, first read a poem, “Faith” then spoke on love. Mrs. Kay Elder gave an interesting study of Christian women, Lee Tai Young, who became first woman lawyer of her country of Korea She singlehandedly, set up what has become the Korean Legal Aid Centre for Family Relations in Soeul. Underlying her work was the belief that, as children of God, women should not have to suffer because of traditional attitudes and practices. Annie Jaiggi of Ghana, became a teacher, and then, Irene Kalbfleisch. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Wilhelm visited Mrs. Edna Houn. Thursday evening the First Hensall Beaver Pack visited the Home and treated the residents with Easter baskets they had made. The ladies of Carmel Presbyterian Church en­ tertained the residents with bingo and music on Monday. Rev. Forsythe of Exeter conducted worship on Tuesday accompanied by Louise Mitchell at the piano. The high bowling score was Neil Regan with 108 score. after six years, studied, law in Britain and then returned to her native Gold Coast. She was first woman admitted to the bar in her country. She worked her way up to magistrate, judge and finally Supreme Court Justice. She has been recognized as a champion for the rights of women. Highlights of human relations in Pakistan and Iran were also given. A report of the adopted girl was given by Mrs. Audrey Joynt, an invitation to Zurich United Church on May 3 was accepted and arrangements for the Beef-Barb-B-Q finalized. Mrs. Belva Fuss was pianist. A poem, “Easter” and the Mizpah benediction closed the meeting. Mrs. Marg Consitt conducted a “bird” contest and lunch was served by hostess Alice Ferg. preached on, “Life has the last word.” Inspiring music was provided by the choir’s two numbers, “Christ is risen” and “Benediction” from Glory to God” by Haydn.“l Times-Advocate, April 18, 1979 Business Directory C. Ph. 227-4224 Maundy Thursday service The Sacrament of Holy Communion was observed at the Maundy Thursday evening service at Hensall United Church and was conducted by Rev. Garnett Husser. Preaching on, “The Song at Midnight,” Rev Husser pointed out that the whole of the New Testament rings with music from the angels proclaiming Christ’s birth to the revelations of St. John. The choir, led by their director, Mrs. Marianne McCaffrey sang “Tenebrae in E flat.” with Dr. Ralph Topp at the organ. Easter lilies on either side of the pulpit were provided from the bequest of the late Mr. & Mrs. Victor Fee. A Sunrise service was held at 6.30 a.m. on Sunday morning led by the young people of Mrs. Sharon Wurm’s class in the Sunday School. Those taking part were Glenn Slade, Tim Rowcliffe, Mary Drysdale, Stephen Gerstenkorn, Dana Bozzatto, Starr Jesney and Scott Jesney. Rev. Garnett Husser was at the organ. Following the service, a bacon and egg breakfast was enjoyed by all present. The regular morning service was conducted by Rev.
