The ladies Guild of St. Mary’s church Brinsley met at the rectory in Parkhill Tuesday night with Mrs. John Drury and Mrs. Don Scott as the hostesses. The ladies of St. Mary’s church are presently working on a quilt at the. home of Mrs. Levi White. Tickets will be sold on this quilt with a draw to be made at the strawberry supper June 20. Seven Brinsley United Church ladies attended the U.C.W. meeting at Carlisle Thursday night to see slides of Brazil and hear Mrs. Andy Stewart speak of missionary work and visiting there. WILLIAM ROHDE Sixty-eight people at­ tended the Easter Thank- Offering meeting of the United Church Women on Monday evening in the church basement. Mrs. Larry Ballantyne opened the worship service with a poem “A Wish For You.” Mrs. Mac Hodgert welcomed everyone in­ cluding ladies from Cen­ tralia, Chiselhurst, Cromarty and Woodham. Mrs. Glen Stewart read the Easter story from Luke 23 and 24. Mrs. William Rowcliffe read I am Simon of Cyrene. Mrs. Larry Ballantyne led in prayer. Mrs. Ross Hargreaves introduced the guest speaker Rev. James Forsythe, Exeter who spoke on “Lets Liberate the Women” which was quite interesting, He was thanked by Mrs. Hodgert and presented with a gift. A humorous poem “Complaint” was given by Mrs. Jim Snow. A piano solo by Miss Agnes Bray was much enjoyed. The offering was received by Mrs. Snow and Mrs. Ballantyne with music supplied by Mrs. Reg Hodgert. Mrs. Hargreaves gave the Offertory prayer. Mrs. Glen Stewart gave a reading “The Easter Puzzle”. The Wor­ ship service was closed with the singing of “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today”. Mrs. William Rohde opened the business part of the meeting with a poem “The Easter Lily’s Way.” Articles for a bale are to be brought into the May meeting. Five ladies offered to look after the C.G.I.T. Mother and Daughter Banquet on May 2. One of the centennial projects was finished Monday with the laying of new carpet on the basement platform due to the com­ mittee of Mrs. Ken Duncan, Mrs. Arnold Cann and Mrs. Fred Johns. The carpet was bought and laid by the Carpet Centre of Exeter. It was also decided the ladies would cater to the lunch following Ed and Ethel Alexander’s 50th wedding anniversary dance at Hensall Rec Centre, May 5. Group C under • the leadership of Mrs. Floyd Stewart and Mrs. Ken Duncan and the hostess Mrs. Jack Duncan served a delicious lunch. The Good Friday evening Church service and Com­ munion service will be held April 13 at 8 p.m. at Elim- viile United Church. The Fellowship group will meet, Sunday evening, April 15 in Thames Road Church at 8 p.m. People are asked to bring picture slides to this meeting. Is this February, March or April? Gerry McCarter returned home Saturday from Children’s War Memorial Hospital, London. Mr. & Mrs. Russell Morley, Exeter were Friday evening supper guests with Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde.
