School Board was asked by

Ms. Garnett Husser, who
hafe been a patient in
University Hospital, London,
has now returned home.
Mr. & Mrs. Joe Flynn
returned to their home on
Thursday after spending the
winter months in Deerfield
Beach, Florida.
Mr. & Mrs. Richard Taylor
returned to their home after
spending the winter months
in Florida.
Mrs. Minnie Noakes has
returned from Brantford
where she spent a week
visiting with Mrs. Gladys
Wilson formerly of Hensail.
Mrs. Lorna Chapman
returned home after spen
ding a two weeks’ holiday at
Clearwater, Florida.
Mrs. Don Gooding of
Parkhill spent Sunday with
her mother Mrs. Edgar
Munn.
Mrs. Evelyn Fletcher of
Exeter was a recent visitor
with Mrs. Bertha
MacGregor.
Mrs. Ruby Bell visited
recently with Mr. & Mrs. Bob
Ulch and Douglas, Paul and
Joanne Bell at Russeldale.

Catholic Parent Teacher
Association of St. Joseph’s
School in Clinton to provide
additional space at the
school to mpet the needs of
110 students enrolled there
this year.
Mrs. Carole Kerrigan,
vice-president of C.P.T.A. at
St. Joseph’s read a brief,out
lining why the addition is
needed. Others attending
with her were the president,
Seamus Doherty of Clinton
and member Marris Bos of
RR 2, Seaforth, and the
school principal Donald
Farwell,
The C.P.T.A. wants two
additional portable
classrooms set up to provide
the addition. The school now
consists of three classrooms,
a staff room and principal’s
office, as well as two por
table classrooms. There is
no basement in the school.
In other business the
board accepted the
resignations of Sister Louise
Lowry, principal of St.
Boniface School, Zurich and
of Susan Kraftcheck who
teaches music (30 percent)
at St. Michael’s School,
Stratford.

their resignations early,
making it easier for the ad

The regular meeting of the Board of
Management of the Exeter Central Business
Improvement Area scheduled for Thursday,
April 19 has been cancelled.

has been scheduled for Wednesday, April
25 at The Old Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. All
members of the Central Business Improve
ment Area are invited to attend. A. B.I.A.
representative will be contacting each
member shortly with additional details.

Mileage for board and
staff was set at 20 cents
retroactive to January 1,
1979 until the end of August
1979, when it will be 22 cents
beginning September 1.
Presently the rate is 18
cents per mile.
Superintendent of
Business pointed out it is the
first increase in four years.
Several trustees had re
quested to have their names
stand for attending the se
cond World Congress in
Education in Vancouver in
June at the last board
meeting. Only three are per
mitted to attend with all ex
penses paid according to the
board by-law. Following a
vote by the trustees, the
three chosen to go are John
O’Drowsky of St. Marys,
Tim McDonnell of Gadshill
and Keith Montgomery of
Wingham. Mickey Vere was
named as an alternate.

meeting. Presenting the out
line of the curriculum for
the trustees were: Co
conveners George Van Slyck
of St. Ambrose School,
Stratford: Lome Rideout of
Mount Carmel: and other
members Patty Anderson of
St. Joseph’s School, Strat
ford: Jim Steffler, Sacred
Heart, Wingham, Jim Date,
resource teacher in board
office.
The board approved the
financial statement for the
year ended December 31, ■
1978. Included in the report:
Total expenditure of $4,551,-
354 compared to $4,313,756 in
1977. Education services
cost the board $3,065,064 up
from $2,879,007 in 1977: plant
operation and maintenance
amounted to $455,561, up
$22,220 from 1977: transpor
tation costs were $499,-463,
down $32,067. Net expen
diture amounted to $4,401,-
069 and this was raised
mainly from government
grants of $3,642,700 and local
taxes amounting to $719,633,
up from $647,731 in 1977.
The meeting was adjourn
ed at 11:30p.m.
