Evelyn led in the opening song service, assisted by Mrs. Shirley Eagleson. The guest speaker was Manuel Curts who reviewed Godfrey Talbot’s latest book “The Country Life of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.” The president, Mrs. Olive Horner chaired the meeting. The roll call was answered by bringing an article to the Cancer Cupboard. Get well cards were autographed and sent to Mrs. (Rev.) Roulston and Mrs. Ettie Bullock, patients in the hospital. Mrs, Pauline Reid assisted the hostess during the social hour. Guild meets Meanwhile, the Ladies Guild of Grace Anglican Church were meeting in their Parish Hall. Joyce Hodgins opened the meeting with prayer and meditation. Mrs. Rheola Bullock, Mrs. Angeline Scott and Mrs. Gertie Hodgins visited the birthday bank. Prayers were offered for the rector, the Rev. Aubrey Bell who has been convalescing in the Mother House, Willowdale, following a back injury. It was decided to cancel the April meeting in favor of assisting at a quilting bee to be held in the hall of St. John’s by the Lake Anglican Church, Grand Bend. During the social hour fingers were busy making pillow slips for the planned autumn bazaar. Communion Service was observed in the Anglican Church, Sunday, with the Rev. Bill Craven, Clinton, officiating. The population of Florida decreased by six last week with the arrival home here, of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bloom­ field, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Brown and Rev. and Mrs. Harley Moore. ' Dinner guests Sunday with Evelyn and Manuel Curts were Jean Reid, Myrtle Luther and Viola Curts, Lon­ don. Douglas Woodburn assisted the Rev. Harley Moore, Sunday evening, at a worship service at the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich. By the way: First Drunk — "Say, know what time it is?” Second Drunk — "'Yeah.” First Drunk — "Thanks.” NURSERY SCHOOL BAKE SALE — A bake sale was held at the Stephen Resource Centre at Huron Park Saturday with proceeds going to aid the Nursery School. Stephen Resource Centre news By LYNNE FARQUHAR A ceramics demonstration was held at the Stephen Resource Centre, Tuesday March 13. Twenty-five people turned out for a demonstration by Mary Lee from Goderich of a new type of ceramics that can be fired at home in your own oven. All people who are in­ terested in starting home ceramics should attend our next meeting Tuesday March 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Resource Centre. Carol Mcllveen who has been doing home ceramics will be on hand to show the pouring, trimming and baking of the ceramics as well as an­ swering any questions hn what equipment is necessary to begin home ceramics. I A Block Parents meeting was held at the Annex March 14. Due to inclement weather the turn-out was poor but many people have dropped in since the meeting to pick up their application forms. Anyone who wants to become a Block Parent should drop into the Resource Centre and fill out the application forms. Those people who have their forms filled out should drop them off at the centre so that they can be sent away as soon as possible. This Thursday March 22 from 2-4 p.m. will be declared "Moms March Break”. Those moms who have had the kids home all week and would like an af­ ternoon away, should drop the kids off at the Resource an afternoon of the moms can afternoon of the Huron Park Centre for movies or enjoy an bowling at Lanes. Bowling will cost $1.20 for three games and the movies will be $.25. For a mom bringing more than one .child, the whole afternoon will be $1.50. Pre-schoolers are welcome to attend also. Movies featured for the youngsters will be “Yellowstone Cubs” by Walt Disney, the "Paddington Bears”, “Donald Duck” and other cartoons. The Stephen Neigh­ bourhood Nursery School held a very successful bake sale Saturday at the Resource Centre. The group netted a profit of $110.00 to go towards equipment nursery. Thank you’s go out to 'all those people who donated baked goods, worked at the sale and also to the people who attended the sale and helped to sup­ port our nursery. A special thank you goes to Mrs. Ben Edwards who baked a special St. Patrick’s Day cake for the raffle. The raffle itself brought in $25.50 and the-lucky winner of the cake was Debby Plantenga from Huron Park. They handed out the members books and information and explained what is involved in being a 4- H calf club member. There are nine members in the club with six first year members. Rooms renovated at Huron Hope By ELEANOR SCOTT We have been back in our renovated classrooms for several weeks npw. The rooms were redesigned to meet the special needs of our pupils and of our program. The major changes have been in the senior classroom which now has a kitchen, laundry facilities and a new bathroom. The new junior classroom was designed to provide a bathroom, a Principal’s office and a new craft area. Both rooms are carpeted and extra storage has been built in. The staff and students are finding the rooms quieter and more efficient. This past Wednesday the last session that pupils will have with students from the Centralia College, Community Home Economics Course. In the eight weeks that they have been working at our school the students have planned projects involving sewing, cooking, grooming, crafts and recreation. These students have been most creative and innovative in their choice of activities. A new piece of gym equipment has been added to our program. The children are enjoying the games and activities that accompany their sessions with the newly acquired parachute. Mrs. companied six of children to the Special was our the Winter Games held at the University of Western Ontario. Our school placed fifth among fifteen other schools as three of our children won medals. The rooms which we had occupied for the five months that it took to renovate our classrooms now commodate over preschool age children in a program run by the Stephen Neighbourhood Resource Centre. Since all our pupils spend recess on the McCurdy playground, we have been able to offer the Nursery School the use of our fenced in playground. Rev. T. Husser, Minister of Hensail United Church has invited us to display our children’s work at a day long festival that is to be held April 1. We welcome this opportunity for the public to see the work that our pupils are capable of doing.
