Rooms renovated
at Huron Hope
By ELEANOR SCOTT
We have been back in our
renovated classrooms for
several weeks npw. The
rooms were redesigned to
meet the special needs of our
pupils and of our program.
The major changes have
been in the senior classroom
which now has a kitchen,
laundry facilities and a new
bathroom.
The new junior classroom
was designed to provide a
bathroom, a Principal’s
office and a new craft area.
Both rooms are carpeted and
extra storage has been built
in. The staff and students are
finding the rooms quieter
and more efficient.
This past Wednesday
the last session that
pupils will have with
students from the Centralia
College, Community Home
Economics Course. In the
eight weeks that they have
been working at our school
the students have planned
projects involving sewing,
cooking, grooming, crafts
and recreation. These
students have been most
creative and innovative in
their choice of activities.
A new piece of gym
equipment has been added to
our program. The children
are enjoying the games and
activities that accompany
their sessions with the newly
acquired parachute.
Mrs.
companied six of
children to the Special
was
our
the
Winter Games held at the
University of Western
Ontario. Our school placed
fifth among fifteen other
schools as three of our
children won medals.
The rooms which we had
occupied for the five months
that it took to renovate our
classrooms now
commodate over
preschool age children in a
program run by the Stephen
Neighbourhood Resource
Centre. Since all our pupils
spend recess on the McCurdy
playground, we have been
able to offer the Nursery
School the use of our fenced
in playground.
Rev. T. Husser, Minister of
Hensail United Church has
invited us to display our
children’s work at a day long
festival that is to be held
April 1. We welcome this
opportunity for the public to
see the work that our pupils
are capable of doing.
