The unit will be kicking off the campaign this year with the sale of daffodils. This is a new venture for the unit who plans to promote the cancer society with the sale of some 2,000 flowers. Advance orders for bunches of 10 daffadils are being accepted in both areas. Anyone wishing to order flowers for the last week-end in March may call Della Crozier 232-4412 or Audrey Willms 293-3374 of Ailsa Craig, or Jill Waters at either 294-6392 or 294-6231 at Parkhill. They will be sell ing for $2 per a bunch a ten. Friday, March 30, both groups will be selling the flowers on the Main Street of the two communities. In Ailsa Craig they will be available outside the Superior store, while in Parkhill they will be sold at both Foodland and at the bank. The meeting was chaired by president Ruth Arnel with twelve members pre sent. Jill Waters, education chairman, reported she had recently spoken to the ladies of the Beechwood Institute on cancer and reported on a film and panel discussion planned for April 5 at the Parkhill West Williams School at 8 p.m. for the public. Members were asked to make the meeting’ known and encourage a good response. Dr. P.C. Crowley, Dr. F. Boyce and a visiting mastectomy volunteer from the cancer society will serve on a panel. The need for more volunteer drivers was reported and it was emphasized that this need not be a heavy involvement. Drivers may be asked to provide rides as little as only once a month or less depending on the need, and mileage is provided by the cancer society. Anyone wishing to help in this program should call Deanie Twynstra, 232-4448 or Doris Robbins, 294-0063. Carolyn Woodbum, cam paign chairman reported on progress for the campaign. Several members will be meeting together to assem ble the campaign kits later this month. In preparation for the fall meeting, President Ruth Arnel asked members to consider inviting all the area captains along with canvass volunteers to an informal meeting when reports are given. Support was un animously given to the idea and tentative plans were made.
