He was taken to South Huron Hospital and then transferred to London for treatment. Atthill was released from hospital Sunday night, but returned on Monday for an operation. The game was extremely rough throughout. Lucan picked up 77 minutes in penalties plus two game misconducts, while the Hawks served 43 minutes. We encourage groups to plan an ac tivity with The Year of the Child as a topic or basis for some involvement ' with children. J The Exeter Hawks scored only one point in two Junior “D” contests this week, ap parently suffering from a lack of incentive as their se cond place standing cannot be changed in the final cou ple of weeks in the schedule. Their lone interest now is to see whether their first round playoff action will come from Seaforth, Lucan or Tavistock. They gave up two points to the Braves with a 6-3 loss in Tavistock, Friday, and then battled the Irish to a 5-5 draw in Lucan, Sunday. The Hawks have only one outing this week, playing a return engagement in Tavistock, Friday. Only three games remain after that. Ken Pinder’s second goal of the afternoon with 14 seconds left on the clock gave the Hawks their draw in Lucan in a contest that threatened to get out of the hands of referee Pat ‘ O’Brien. Six power play goals were scored in the af-, fair, four by the Hawks, Lucan jumped into a two- goal lead in the first on tallies by Keith Hartwick and Cecil Nickles and they made it 3-0 early in the se cond with Jeff Marshall blinking the light. Exeter finally hit the sheet with Pinder finishing off a play with Dave Bogart and they made it 3-2 near the mid-way mark of the middle frame when Jamie Caldwell scored the fijst of his two on a power play. Lucan scored late in the second on a goal by Jeff Hartman and they upped the lead to 5-2 early in the third when Brian Murray hit the sheet. Exeter then started to take control of the game and scored twice to set the stage for Pinder’s equalizer. Ken Varley and Caldwell picked up the other third period goals with the assists going to Terry Caldwell and Fred Mommersteeg. Phil Knight drew the assist on Pinder’s tally. Exeter had 16 penalties, including a misconduct to McKellar and a five-minute fighting major to Bilcke, while the Irish had 22, in cluding fighting majors to Bob Hodgins and Dean Densmore. The latter also picked up a five-minute charging penalty and both he and Hodgins were ejected from the game by O’Brien who drew the wrath of players and supporters from both squads. Lack lustre showing The Hawks were well below their usual perfor mance in their 6-3 loss to Tavistock, leaving goalie Steve Wells ‘ ' himself on casions. The teams three apiece mid-way through the second before Tavistock potted a pair late in the period and added a power play goal in the third to win going away. Kerry Bedard, Brian Mercer and Don McKellar scored for Exeter, with Dave Bogart and Jamie Caldwell picking up two assists each. The other assists went to Dave Kinsman and Preston Dearing. After losing 4-1 to the Durham Huskies in Durham Friday night the Jets rebounded to score a 6-4 win over the strong Chatham Maroons in llderton Sunday afternoon. This week the Jets will face the league leading Petrolia Squires on two qc- casions. The Petrolia club will be in llderton tonight, Wednesday at 8:15 p.m, and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Friday night the L-I club travels to Durham to meet the Huskies again. Tonight’s game against Petrolia has been moved ahead from February 18. Against Chatham Sunday, the Jets jumped into a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period and were never head ed thereafter. Dave Easton scored for Chatham at five minutes of the first period before the Jets scoring machine started to roll. Bruce Reddick, newly acquired from the London Knings evened the score at 11:06 on a three-way effort with Gary Herr and Brian Murphy. About six minutes later, the Jets moved ahead to stay on a successful shot by Jamie Robb with Ian McTavish providing the assist. Robb was back on the scoring parade at 3:15 of the middle frame as he beat Jim Fraser in the Chatham nets. Assisting were Ian McTavish and Steve Proc tor. The second Chatham score came at 6:45 when a shot from the point by Steve English deflected off a Jet defender and into the net. The Jets took a comman ding lead with two goals in the last four minutes of the second session. The same forward line was responsible for the fourth L-I goal. This time Ian McTavish was on the fir ing end with the passing help coming from Jamie Robb and Steve Proctor at 15:56. With less than three minutes remaining, captain Barry Baynham hit Ed Parkinson with a long clear ing pass and he raced into score. In the third period Randy Kraul register by the Jets on a pass from Brian Murphy While Pete Badour and Gary Brown replied for Chatham. Both came on power play ef forts. Referee Phil Jones meted out nine minor penalties with five going to the Jets. John Robertson in goal for the Jets faced a total of 46 shots while his mates sent 32 pucks towards Jim Fraser and Larry Verlinde who shared Chatham goaltending duties. Score first In Durham Friday night, the Jets counted the first goal of the game, but, that was the extent of their scor ing. Ian McTavish was the only L-I marksman. Scoring in single fashion for Durham were Bill Burlington, Ken Nelson, Andy Grant and Dean Neuman. The goal by Neuman was scored into an empty Jet net as coach Pete Loveless sent six forwards to the attack.
