While at Lake Okeechobee they enjoyed a farm tour seeing and tasting fresh lettuce, celery and sugar cane. They saw fields of carrots and radish. In each field they were told how the product is grown and maintained and its uses. On leaving they were given bags of fresh radish and baby carrots. They then travelled up to Orlando and Clairmont in the Central region where there are many largecitrous farms. While in Leesburg they visited with Mr. & Mrs. Andy Dixon and were taken on a tour of one of the large orange groves. In the northern part of Florida they saw many horse and cattle ranches. The cattle called Brahma are a cross between the brahma and hereford variety. The calves are marketed and sent further north to be fattened.
