Good attendance
at church service
There was a good attendance at
the Communion service at St.
James Anglican Church
Christmas Eve. The service was
conducted by the Rev. John
Hofland, Mrs. Alan Hill was
organist. The church was
decorated with poinsettias,
Christmas Eve service at the
United Church was well attended.
The church was decorated with
spruce branches, Poinsettias,
various types of candles and a
Christmas tree. The Junior choir
sang with Debbie Lynn at the
piano.
Rev. Keith Brown told a
Christmas story "The Star" and
at the completion of the story
contributed a beautiful solo
accompanied by his daughter,
Helen. This service took the place
of the regular Sunday morning
worship.

James Henry, Laurie Shaw and
Karen Mason are leaving on
Thursday for Dallas, Texas
where they will commence the
spring semester at Christ for the
Nations Bible College.
Philip Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Art Bell is a patient in University
Hospital where he was taken
after being hit by a car as he
walked along the highway near
Lucan Thursday evening,
The visibility was very bad at
the time of the aceident due to the
snowstorm, Phil has two broken
legs, broken left wrist and other
bruises.
Larry Armstrong, Burnaby,
British Columbia spent Christ-
mas with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Armstrong, then left
Monday for Montreal to spend a
few days with his sister, Elaine,
Clint Hodgins returned to his
Orlando, Florida home last week,
the Greatest Gift" and
"Christmas Risk".
The congregation also shared
in the service in carols and
responses and by writing on a
paper candle the "wall" which
each of them felt they had to
overcome in order to accept and
live the joy that knowing Christ
brings! The candle lighting
ceremony was performed by the
three members who read the
monologues.
Leader Winnie Robicheau
played the piano for the carols,
etc. throughout the service, and
leader Pam Wright thanked those
who took part by being present to
support the C.G.I.T. and wished
today, Thursday, at 2 p.m. This is
a very important meeting to plan
the activities for 1978.
Party for
seniors
The Lucan Senior Citizen's
Christmas party was held at the
Shillelagh Thursday afternoon,
December 22 when a delicious
Christmas dinner was enjoyed by
a good number of members and
friends.
President Gordon Hotson
welcomed everyone and ex-
tended Christmas greetings to
all. A short program was enjoyed
and a most enjoyable reading
entitled "Pedro and the
Christmas bells" was given by
Maude Hodgins,
P.laegorie Steeper gave a most
interesting summary of the
year's work and activities of the
group. The reason that the report
was even more interesting was
the fact that it was written in
rhyming form.
Cecil Robb was in charge of the
films that were shown. The
program included carol singing
and gifts that were distributed
from a gaily decorated Christ-
mas tree.

The Lucan-Clandeboye
C.G.I.T. members presented the
annual Christmas vesper service
Wednesday evening to a small
but very appreciative audience.
Members participating in-
cluded readers Vicki Robicheau,
Wendy Earhart, monologues by
Anna Bates, Sherry Froats and
Joyce Earhart, with Donna
Hodgins taking the part of the
hidden voice reading various
scriptures.
Laurie Robicheau read the
poem was hungry , ." and
Sherri Davidson led the
congregation in a responsive
prayer. Members of the C.G.I.T.
formed the choir singing "Love is

Christmas Sunday at Lucan
United Church, the Rev. Keith
Brown presented a "Sermon
Story" entitled "The Star", a
story of the little girl, Ruth, the
crippled daughter of the Inn -
keeper of Bethlehem and the
miracle of her healing
The choir were given a well-
deserved holiday and Mr. Brown
sang a beautiful solo "The Bir-
thday of the King", accompanied
by his daughter, Helen, who is the
organist.
The general U.C.W. will meet
Tuesday, January 10 at 8 p.m, in
the C.E. wing. All women of the
church are welcome, "Live-
Love" projects for the year will
be chosen. .
Sunday, January 8, 1978, the
Sacrament of Infant Baptism will
be held, Parents wishing their
children baptized, are asked to
contact Mr. Brown as soon as
possible.
Sunday, January 15 the
Sacrament of the Lord's Supper
will be observed and there will
also be a reception of members
by transfer. All who wish to be
received at this time please call
