By JOY SCHEIFELE
Even sub zero temperatures
couldn't dampen the spirits of the
carolers from the Nairn Men-
nonite Church as they went about
last Wednesday evening singing
Christmas carols.
Following what is fast
becoming an annual tradition,
families from the Nairn church
sang for the elderly and shut ins
in Nairn and Ailsa Craig, They
left the church in a line of cars
The Ailsa Craig explorers
doubled their ranks last Tuesday
evening as the girls brought their
mothers to their annual
Christmas party at the United
Church.
Both mothers and daughters
joined in the opening service
conducted by leaders, Ellen
Whitmore and Jane Walker. All
then put inhibitions aside and
abandoned themselves to fun and
games. While most of the games
and stopped at various homes in
the two communities and
gathered on porches and under
windows to sing messages of
peace and goodwill.
One of the stops included the
senior citizens apartments when
the group of adults and children
filled the hallway of the apart-
ment building with the Christmas
message.
When toes and noses could
stand it no longer the group
were new to the mothers, the
girls had played them often
during their meetings.
A brief time was spent singing
carols and other Christmas songs
before explorers opened their
gifts from each other. Again
mothers were included, and each
exchanged a gift also,
A special luncheon of cheese
and punch was served before the
evening concluded.
