A tribute to Charlie Paul
watch a game on television and
listen to another on the radio. His
greatest love of sports was horse
racing and when he was able to
get around he went to a lot of
racing meets. In fact he would
place a few dollars on their noses.
He was a thoroughbred and left
all his characteristics to his sons
and grandchildren. He will be
well remembered for these
characteristics for a long time.
May he rest in peace and we
will all miss his friendly wave.

There was almost an unusual
silence over the Hamlet of
Kirkton and District when word
was received of the death of one
of our highly esteemed citizens,
Mr. Charlie Paul on December
16, 1977.
Charlie had a great sense of
humor and he often told the story
that he did not get up in the
morning until the paper came, He
would look in the obituary notice
and if he did not see his name, he
would get up. Well on Saturday he
did not get up. He was often heard
to say, "Well, we have lost
another good neighbor." We can
now say, "We have lost a good
neighbor."
One other time, on a cold
wintery day, when one of his
neighbors was waiting to catch a
bus to Florida, Charlie was seen
coming down the street with a
striped summer suit and straw
hat to come and bid his friend
farewell.
Charlie was very community
minded and was a Director on the
Agriculture Fair Board and also
helped a lot with the Kirk ton-
Woodham Community
Association,
He was a good singer and sang
in the Anglican Church Choir for
a good many years. He also sang
at a lot of concerts and garden
parties with Nellie at the piano.
Most of these were good old
English songs that he brought
from over home.
He enjoyed all kinds of sports
and in his later life would often

By the way; Due to the wet fall,
many farmers are already trying
to decide what crops to plant next
year, My prediction is that next
year will be a dry one, so they
should plant onions and potatoes
in alternate rows. The onions will
make the potatoes eyes water
and irrigate the soil.
