Kippen women see ceramics,
honor 4-H girls and leaders

KIPPEN
The Christmas meeting of the
Kippen East Women's Institute
held at the home of Mrs. Charles
Eyre, Egmondville, was one of
the outstanding meetings of the
year.
Mrs. John Morgan, Exeter, and
Mrs. Russell Ferguson, Hensall,
had, on display, their work in
Ceramics. Mrs. Morgan gave a
comprehensive account of their
work, staining, glazing and firing
and also had many useful tips for
beginners.
Mrs. Campbell Eyre won the
beautiful candle holder donated
by Mrs. Morgan and Mrs.
Ferguson. The speakers were
introduced by Mrs. Vern
Alderdice and were thanked by
Mrs. James Drummond.
The fall board meeting report
was presented by Mrs. Robert
Kinsman, the treasurer's report
by Mrs. Harold Parsons. The
motto "It's not the hours you put
in that count, but what you put
into the • hours", was given by
Mrs. Alex McGregor. Current
Events were presented by Mrs.
Dave Triebner.
Inspiring poems and readings
were given by Mrs. Al Hoggarth
• and Mrs. James Drummond, A
musical contest was conducted
by Mrs. Vern Alaerdice and Mrs.
James Drummond. It was
decided to commence the euchre
parties in the Hensall Legion hall
in January.
Gifts were presented to Shirley
Chalmers for achieving 12 4-H
Clubs. Also honoured were Carol
McGregor and Linda Roberts
who achieved six clubs and the
leaders, Ruth Bean, Eileen
McGregor, Beatrice Stoll, Helen
Roberts, Mary Connolly and
Margaret Hoggarth.
After the gift exchange a
midnight supper was served by
Mrs. Grace Drummond, Mrs.
Grant MacLean, Mrs. Robert
Kinsman and the hostesses Mrs.
Eyre, Mrs. Pepper and Mrs.
Sinclair. •
U.C.W. Meets
Tuesday the U.C.W. met in St.
Andrews Church, Kippen. Mrs,
Keith Lovell gave the worship on
a Christmas theme. Mrs. Gerald
Moffatt gave the topic from the
film strip, "Traditions of
Christmas".
Seven junior ,,choir members
sang Christmas carols and ac-
companied themselves ,on the
ukelele. Joan Binnendyke played
two instrumentals.
Hostesses Mrs. John Sinclair
and Joan Binnendyk served
lunch assisted by Unit 2.

shots, but, got past Jets goalie
Peter Anas.
Fall behind early
In Friday's loss to Petrolia, the
Jets found themselves on the
wrong side of the score at 3-0
early in the second period.
The first Jets marker came
from the stick of Brian Murphy
on a power play with the assist
going to Barry Baynham.
A good slap shot by Jamie Robb
produced the second and final L-I
goal at 18.17 of the middle frame,
Brother Ed Robb assisted.
Barry edgar led the Petrolia
scoring attack with a two goal
effort while singles went to Tom
Douglas, Russ Archer, Cam
Ross, Doug Zonneville and Bill
Abercrombie.
Kevin Lightfoot faced 42 shots
in the Jets net while his mates
fired 28 shots at Larry Lucas of
Petrolia.
